After a hearty meal of kway chup which made us feel guilty (pig's intestine, stomach etc), we headed home and cooked some veggies to supplement our fibreless and vitaminless kway chup.
It's not often that we eat asparagus but I understand that it contains lots of vitamins and folate which could help lift our spirits. Therefore, asparagus is good for people who are depressed.

I was at East Coast Food Village last night to lend support to my busker friend. At the same time I tried the fried Hokkien and char siew noodles. The 2 dishes were quite tasty and cost $4 each.

Back to "My Kampong" for the above chicken char siew noodles ($3.80). It's just so so and would not recommend my readers. Char siew should be roasted pork instead of chicken but then this  a "Halal" certified joint which mean the Muslims can also eat.

This laksa (chicken) is as good as the 928 Yishun laksa except that it is sold at Seletar Mall which is airconditioned and comfortable. Yes, it is more expensive that 928 but it came with chicken meat.
928 is at $3.30 whereas this one is $4.50 but in larger portion. Sorry I forgot to mention that the laksa was from a chicken rice stall called "My Kampong".

Dinner at Chong Boon

Had the curry sting ray and pork cube for dinner. The place was AMK or Chong Boon (Blk 453) food center. Good and lovely dinner. We paid $11 which also included 2 bowls of rice. It's a pity the busker wasn't there to entertain us while having our dinner...😂🤣😜

Breakfast and busking at AMK

This busker was serenading us with the good oldies songs while we were having our pork rib prawn noodles at block 453 Ang Mo Kio this morning. Must admit he was good at what he did. I dropped  a small donation into his donation box 3 times in a span of 30 minutes. I also observed within that 30 minutes we were there, at least 15 people put some money into his donation box.
With his permission I took the above video.
Enjoy! 👌👍😀🤑😎

My Kampong Chicken & rice

My Kampong Chicken opened a few months ago at Seletar Mall. This is the third outlet in SG. We had half a chicken and rice for dinner. The chilli sauce is better than most chicken rice stalls/restaurants. The chicken is quite lean and it is a comparable $13 (half chicken) to the food centers etc. The meat is also very tasty and for the price and quality, one does not have to visit the hawker stalls anymore. The place is air conditioned  and clean. It is also halal certified.

Oh Luwak breakfast and pork dishes for dinner

The left oh luwak (oyster omelette) was from Kopitiam next to Fernvale LRT Station and the right oh luwak was from Ang Mo Kio Ave 10 (Chong Boon Food Center Blk 453). The right one was so much tastier than the Kopitiam one.

The ba kut teh (pork ribs) and tu kar (pig's trotter) were from Chong Boon. We had the above for dinner. It was a satisfying meal ($15).

Rib-eyed and sirloin steaks

If you like nice beef steak which is reasonably priced, visit Hot Tomato at one of the shopping malls like NEX Mall. Between 11.30 am and 5pm, HT gives a hefty discount of 25% on its main courses to senior citizens (above 60) and others a 20% between 3 pm and 5 pm. They also give good discounts for students. The discounts are applicable on weekdays only.
The 2 pieces of steaks cost us about $28 after discounts.

Fined for illegible parking in SG

The government's car park division is doing a roaring business by imposing heavy fines on vehicles that are parked indiscriminately at areas meant for loading/unloading of goods. Everyday, thousands of dollars in fine is being collected. This is not the only source of income for the government because there are many other ways in which they could impose fines on motorists, example: speeding, running the red lights etc. People who use their mobile phones while driving is also subjected to being fined as well as drink driving.

Today, I went to Changi Hospital for post cataract operation checkup. The eye pressure has dropped to 17 which is considered normal. It was 23 the day after the ops.
Travelling time to the hospital and back was 2 hours. Waiting time was 2 hours but consultation time was only 10 minutes.
After consultation, I headed to the coffee shop near the Simei MRT Station and had charsiew/siew yok rice ($3). Cabbage and chicken feet soup was free flow at no cost. After lunch, I ordered a cup of kopi O ($1.80) at ToastBox which was about 10 meters away. The kopi O was about the same standard as the one which was sold at the coffee shop ($1). Promised myself never to order any kopi from Simei ToastBox again. For dessert, I went up to the upper level of Eastpoint Mall (think it was Food Junction) and had a whole coconut ($3.50). The meat was jelly-like (too soft) and the juice was sourish. Again I told myself never to have the coconut again at this mall.
Finally, I had a haircut from a Malay barber shop (same level as the Food Junction). I was rather shock that a haircut is now $12 instead of $10!
