God is the great Healer

We live in a world of many uncertainties, miseries, worries, ill health etc but if we have faith in God we can overcome them. Only believe all things all possible. God will heal our sicknesses, solve our problems and what have you if you only have faith to believe He can and will do it for you.
My eczema?  no, no not an issue for God. I know when all treatments and medications failed, He will be victorious in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Remember the following verse in Isaiah:

"But He was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed" (Is. 53:5).

I now declare to the world that my Lord Jesus Christ has healed me.

Lesser questions from cabin crew wannabes

At long last there are only few questions posed by cabin crew wannabes. The load is off my shoulders now.
The last one I did answer was an email from Nepal. This guy desperately wanted to be a steward with Singapore Airlines and asked me whether he could attend the cabin crew interviews in India. He email me twice with the same questions and so I reluctantly told him that SIA is not hiring Nepalese and besides the interviews in India are for female Indian citizens only.
See, to answer this type of question is a waste of time. It is obvious that the ads in India stated very clearly the position is for female Indian Nationals.

Toast Box seating arrangement sucks but kopi good

Had breakfast at Toast Box. It gives a 10% discount if you use the Visa card and is valid for this month only.
Toast Box Nanyang coffee is about the best and one cup of kopi O is $1.70c to $1.80c, depending on the outlet. Now the heartlanders' kopi shop kopi O is $1.00 to $1.10. Kopi shop kopi is nowhere compared to Toast Box's .
Toast Box's wooden stools are hard and space is cramped whereas the kopi shop ones are more comfortable and spacious. Main reason for the uncomfortable seating arrangement at Toast Box is because it does not want the customers to hang around too long.
I hate the seats but visit it because of its kopi O. If another company were to serve kopi as good as Toast Box and offer comfortable seats I will patronised it even if it cost me more for their F & B.
No need to talk about Ya kun Kaya, Wang's, Killiney Kopitiam etc as their kopi is of inferior quality compared to Toast Box.

Much talked about Japanese mee pok/ba chor mee, a disappointment

Tried the much talked-about noodles managed by a Japanese family at Clementi this morning. The queue was long. The mee pok was disappointingly average.
Nearer to our place, the mee pok is 10 times better and so is the one at Blk 444 Pasir Ris (below).

Prices of basic necessities are increasing

The Straits Times has raised its price to $1.10c from 0.90c since March this year. That's a 22% increase. I do not buy the ST cos I usually read Yahoo and The New Paper online.
Besides ST increasing its price, the heartlanders' kopitiam also increase its beverage prices eg: kopi O now costs anything from $1 to $1.10c per cup. It used to be 0.80c to .90c. Food prices at the hawker center and foodcourts are also up.
The hearlanders' NTUC supermarkets which were setup in the 1970s to help moderate prices are also upping their prices like crazy.
I pity the ordinary folks especially the retirees who are finding it hard to make ends meet. The government gave them some money to commemorate the SG50 but they are taken back by the price increases.

Bonus of 2.41 months to be paid to SIA staff

I am happy to hear SIA is rewarding its staff and crew with a 2.41 month bonus this year. As usual, SIA is generous in giving bonuses to its staff and dividends to its shareholders (35 cents for each share). SIA made S$806 million for year 2015-2016.
Had I still be working for SIA, I will get about $14, 460 as this year's bonus ( based on my last drawn basic salary of $6,000).
SIA crew and staff have been working very hard and deserved the bonus payment.
If I am not mistaken, SIA gave its employees a 1.5 month bonus last year plus $500 for SG50.

Yesterday's home-cooked dinner

We had rice with mapo tofu and fried beef with cabbage/bean sprouts for our dinner. Following dinner we ate yellow/red flesh watermelon and papaya. The fruits were juicy, refreshing and sweet.

Treating eczema the Traditional Chinese Medicine way

This morning, I visited a TCM practitioner for my second acupuncture. I've what the National Skin Center specialists called eczema, a skin condition.
They couldn't find a cure for my condition and therefore I turned to a TCM practitioner for help.
The TCM was recommended by a ex classmate who also had the same problem. In fact, his condition was worse than mine in that he would scratch until the affected part bleed. He was cured by acupuncture after a few months.
I like the TCM practitioner. He is in his 50s and a soft spoken reassuring and confident man. He told me my condition should improve as times goes by. The queue at his clinic is as usual long. By the time I arrived at his clinic (9:30am) I was number 20 in the queue. His fees including medication and acupuncture is about $40. He has 30 years of TCM practice and a graduate from a university in China.
I hope he could find a cure for my condition.
I used to take antihistamine tablets which could temporarily stop the itching but it has side effects.
If the treatment is successful, I will put his name and address of his clinic in this blog.

Explaining why I do not entertain questions from wannabes

It's not that I do not want to entertain questions from cabin crew wannabes pertaining to the cabin crew job.
I have helped many secured the job and is ever ready to help these people. However, many of those who asked me questions either through my blog or email, were questions that were asked before here. If only they do a bit of reading, they would not have asked me the same questions over and over again.
Some asked silly questions like " I am female and only 1cm shorter  (1.57m) than the minimum height required by SIA. Do you think I will be rejected at the interview?"  If the minimum height requirement is 1.58m then it is obvious that SIA Will reject any height below that isn't it? Another question would be like this: " I am from India do you think SIA would allow me to attend the interview in Singapore?" SIA states clearly in its recruitment website that interview in Singapore is only for Singapore citizens.
Others were rude in asking questions. They made me feel as though I was obliged to reply to them.
There will also be many questions and emails I would receive everyday the moment SIA publishes in its website about the interview.
Some even have the audacity to ask for free tutorial and my e-guide.
Even after I have put up a notice to say that I won't entertain any question, many still continue to bombard me with the same old questions.
I hope I've clarified as to why I do not want to publish nor reply to questions regarding the cabin crew recruitment.

This morning we were at Changi Village and decided to visit Mizzy Corner Nasi Lemak. We were disappointed with Mizzy because it does not have the selar fish. We then try the nasi lemak opposite (to the left) Mizzy and it turned out to be disastrous. They had fried fish but they were not only small but stoned hard.
We then drove to Chong Pang Market in the late afternoon and had our favourite satay there. Don't order the ketupat or rice dumpling as they are hard and cold. The satays and the peanut sauce were good. This stall faces the sugar cane drink stall. The one behind has better satays and ketupat but was not open when we were there.

Poor taxi service in Singapore

Besides the complicating taxi fare structure (we have many taxi companies operating with different fare structure), taxis aren't easily available as we would like at certain time of the day.
After 9:30am on a weekday, one may find it difficult to get a cab. The reason is because the 25% extra charge between 6am and 9:30am no longer applies.
These last 2 days I need to catch a cab to the city around 10am but ended up taking a bus instead. I waited as long as 30 minutes but there was no taxi available.
During the evening, there will be a vacant taxi plying the street in front of my apartment every 2 minutes. But why is that so? Answer: because between 6pm and midnight the 25% surcharge applies.
During the period when the surcharge does not apply, the cabbies would be ferrying their spouses and children to the markets, shops etc. They would conveniently turn on the "busy" sign to tell their would-be passengers that they are ferrying other "passengers".
When Uber and Grab Taxis made their appearance a few years ago, the cabbies made a big fuss. They complained to the government that Uber and Grab are depriving them of a livelihood.
I do not use the taxi service often and so not affected by their poor service as much as my fellow Singaporeans and residents.

Today's breakfast

This is a bowl of special bar chor mee. Besides the normal stuff, this one consists on a medium size prawn and a small portion of pig's trotter. This is in fact the most expensive on the menu ($5). The usual one is $3.50c
