Breakfast and Lunch
It's Toast Box again this morning. The place wasn't crowded around 10am and so had a quiet time. There is free wi-fi at the mall too.
The Nanyang coffee has a nice aroma and that's why I frequent Toast Box. Back in the 1960s and 70s, most ordinary coffee shops served similar type of coffee or kopi as we called it. Today, the coffee served in the coffee shops are of lower grade and quality.
Dinner was mutton nasi briyani with some potato salad. Good stuff but a bit oily.

Soft French @ Toast Box
Yesterday, we had breakfast at Greenwich V. It does not have the "soft French toast set" and so we settled for the "kaya toast set".
This morning we visited the Toast Box at Seletar Mall and it serves the " soft French set" which is a little more expensive but satisfying ($5.50c)
Home-made sandwiches and a cup of grass jelly milk tea from Koi..good stuff!
Potato salad, fried Kimchi beef, sambal kangkong and a bowl of Japanese rice....yummy is the word!

Toast Box seating arrangement sucks but kopi good
Had breakfast at Toast Box. It gives a 10% discount if you use the Visa card and is valid for this month only.
Toast Box Nanyang coffee is about the best and one cup of kopi O is $1.70c to $1.80c, depending on the outlet. Now the heartlanders' kopi shop kopi O is $1.00 to $1.10. Kopi shop kopi is nowhere compared to Toast Box's .
Toast Box's wooden stools are hard and space is cramped whereas the kopi shop ones are more comfortable and spacious. Main reason for the uncomfortable seating arrangement at Toast Box is because it does not want the customers to hang around too long.
I hate the seats but visit it because of its kopi O. If another company were to serve kopi as good as Toast Box and offer comfortable seats I will patronised it even if it cost me more for their F & B.
No need to talk about Ya kun Kaya, Wang's, Killiney Kopitiam etc as their kopi is of inferior quality compared to Toast Box.

Scrumptious authentic Japanese food and breakfast at ToastBox
My wife who is still in Japan sent me these pictures. She is visiting her family who is not badly affected by the recent earthquakes in Kitakyushu.
Her parents brought her out for a lovely authentic Japanese food which she had missed a lot.
I didn't want to go to Japan with my wife because I want to accord her some privacy with her family. Besides, I do not feel safe even though the quake tremors are not severe at the place she is staying. I rather be safe than sorry.
I had my breakfast at ToastBox. I like the kopi O there as it is so much better than the ones sold at other stalls. I am quite fortunate as there are 2 ToastBox near my home. Both are less than 10 minutes walk away.
I ate 2 soft cooked eggs (not in the picture), otak toast and a cup of siew tai and kaw (less sugar and concentrated) kopi O.
The weather in Singapore is hot and humid. The temperature at 3pm was 36C and it is forecast to have thundery showers in the evening in the northern, western and center part of the island.
