Instant mee goreng, cakes from Japan and pasta dinner
Since today is a public holiday (Good Friday), many eateries will be packed. To avoid the crowd, we decided to cook the instant mee goreng or fried noodles for lunch. We added some shredded cabbages and a sunny side up fried egg and voila the above. Yummy is the word to describe the mee goreng. Instant noodles usually taste good but doubt they are a healthy choice. It's fine if one eats it once in a while. Eating too often may cause health problem.
This photo was sent to us yesterday by a friend in Japan. It's about the cakes sold in a confectionery.
We were told that these cakes were super yummy. The confectionery uses honey instead of sugar in their cakes and because of this they not only taste better but healthier. Each piece cost about $4.
My wife cooked spaghetti with mussels in minced beef sauce. We topped it up with grated cheese and garnished with broccoli. Each of us had 120 grams of the spaghetti. It was a simple but delicious home prepared meal.
We try and eat mussels at least once a week. It helps in lubricating the joints especially around the knee area.

My Sunday meals
These were my meals for today. Of course, besides the above, I ate some chocolates which we bought from Japan. I am trying to lose some weight so I am eating less now. The bottom picture is the home cooked spaghetti with green mussels (good for the joints) and the topping is a generous serving of shredded cheese.

Sunday, October 9, 2016
We went to Chong Pang and did some marketing over there this morning. Being a Sunday, the place was very busy and crowded. One consolation was that car parking is free of charge. Depending on where one park his vehicle. If it is nearer to the market center, free car parking is available from 1pm till 7pm otherwise it is the usual 7am till 7pm.
The above is my wife's version of Spaghetti Carbonara. It came with garlic bread and a small bowl of lettuce. Her standard of cooking is definitely better than mine.
These days, we seldom eat out. We feel that home cooked food is healthier and tastier.

Mentai spaghetti and Japanese dinner
Dinner was typically Japanese style. Rice, saba fish, diakon, miso soup, pickled sliced ginger and salted veggie. I would not put on weight when I've this type of dinner. In fact, I would most likely lose a few hundred grams if the lunch is somewhat similar. Instead, lunch was mentai (fish roe) spaghetti.

Yesterday's meals mostly Italian except for dinner
The spaghetti carbonara was home prepared but the slice of chicken pizza was from Pezzo take-away. A small piece like the one above cost $4.90 and it can't even fill up my stomach. The taste is not great compared to the plate of carbonara which was prepared at home.
Dinner was a little rice and slices of ginger pork....oiishi ne!

Our dinner for today...spaghetti ++
We decided to cook meat sauce spaghetti for dinner. We ground some coriander leaves together with raw garlic and a little bit of cashew nuts into a paste (green paste above) and added to our meal (our apology for the messiness). We sprinkled grated Parmesan cheese and chopped spring onions onto the spaghetti. The salad course is made up of lettuce and broccoli and the dressing is Japanese. It was indeed an enjoyable meal.
Just for information the coriander is a very nutritious plant and has lots of health benefits like anti-histamine, combat indigestion etc...read more

Dinner@ Greenwich V Kopitiam
This is the best place to dine on a Saturday night because it's not crowded. I am talking about Greenwich Village at Seletar Hills. We ordered spaghetti x 2 and a plate of cheese fries which cost $15.39.
The food is not fantastic but bearable.
Yesterday, my wife and I had something similar at Pizza Hut and it cost us almost $30! ....but undeniably better.

This is a bowl of special bar chor mee. Besides the normal stuff, this one consists on a medium size prawn and a small portion of pig's trotter. This is in fact the most expensive on the menu ($5). The usual one is $3.50c

This is day 4 of bean sprouts growth in my apartment. They are coming up nicely and so in the next 2 days, I can have them as my fibre/protein food. Will post here again tomorrow.
