Breakfast was porridge at the newly opened restaurant in Chong Pang Village called Sin Heng Kee. The place is airconditioned unlike other porridge places in CPV. The restaurant is clean and spacious plus the prices are reasonable. Would recommended people who love porridge.

Dinner was at Toa Payoh Hub. Had yoon tau foo, nasi lemak and not forgetting the famous rojak at Gourmet Paradise. Had sugar cane and bandung drink too. The best was the rojak but had to queue for 25 minutes today.

Our ex school teachers

He did not turned up for lunch and we later found out that he was sick. He was in bed for almost 48 hours suffering from nauseating and vertigo. He was our former school teacher. He flew in from Toronto a couple of days ago and is still suffering from jet lag. Mr Koh is 86 and it is not funny for an elderly man of his age to endure the 20 hour journey.
I spoke to him on the phone this afternoon and he apologized profusely for not able to join us for lunch yesterday. I told him to call me if he needs help in case he is sick again.
We had another teacher who suffered from a stroke recently. He is Mr  Cheong (also 86) and was our primary school sports master. I fondly remember him teaching some of us how to box. Whenever we boys quarrelled among ourselves, Mr Cheong would bring out the boxing gloves and asked us to fight it out. I remember ko-ing a classmate of mine in the boxing ring, much to the delight of Mr Cheong and my other classmates. I was once beaten badly by another classmate in the ring but I was not ashamed because that guy was almost twice my size. Weeks later and after much training from Mr Cheong, I managed to out last that bigger classmate in a returned bout. But now Mr Cheong is very sick and is confined to his bed. I pray and hope he will recover.

I had this beef soup with rice at City Square Mall Food Republic (L4). Whenever I visit this place, I would almost always eat the $9 "3 types of meat"(beef with kway teow). However, today I decided to try the cheaper dish which is the above ($5.50). I found that there wasn't much difference between the two. It is as delicious as ever.
City Sq Mall is the place where I would meet and chat with my ex schoolmates and teacher. I do not go there often but perhaps 2 to 3 times a year. We moved around from mall to mall and the next one may be at Nex Mall.

Had our udon dinner at Nex Mall. After dinner, we were tempted to try the above Japanese desserts but since we were so full, we gave the dessert a miss.

Visited Kaki Bukit for breakfast. The Malay rice was quite nice and so was the laksa (except the cockles were small). This is an industrial area where many vehicle repair shops, wood workshop etc was located. I sent my vehicle there for general servicing and repair work.

Valu$ sells cheaper than most

Last night we had our dinner at Toa Payoh Hub. We were glad to bump into another Valu$ shop. It is situated at the basement, opposite FairPrice and next to Toa Payoh MRT station entrance.
The things are incredibly cheap e.g. a box of Lipton tea bags (20) is going for $1 (at FairPrice $5.30). The After Eight mint is $2.95 (selling about $8 elsewhere), the chocolates are going for $1 each. There are hundred of items and one shouldn't miss this place.

At the basement of Toa Payoh Hub opposite the bus interchange is where you will find the famous Soon Heng rojak stall. The queue was as long as ever even at 9 pm when we were there. The 15 minutes wait was worth it as the rojak is one of the best in Singapore.

Home prepared fish head curry for lunch

This was the fish head curry we cooked for lunch. We seldom cooked this dish. More often than not we cook chicken curry. Therefore, the taste wasn't as good. I told my wife the next time we feel like eating fish head curry we should head for Apollo Banana Leaf in Little India.
