Scrumptious authentic Japanese food and breakfast at ToastBox

My wife who is still in Japan sent me these pictures. She is visiting her family who is not badly affected by the recent earthquakes in Kitakyushu.
Her parents brought her out for a lovely authentic Japanese food which she had missed a lot.
I didn't want to go to Japan with my wife because I want to accord her some privacy with her family. Besides, I do not feel safe even though the quake tremors are not severe at the place she is staying. I rather be safe than sorry.

I had my breakfast at ToastBox. I like the kopi O there as it is so much better than the ones sold at other stalls. I am quite fortunate as there are 2 ToastBox near my home. Both are less than 10 minutes walk away.
I ate 2 soft cooked eggs (not in the picture), otak toast and a cup of siew tai and kaw (less sugar and concentrated) kopi O.

The weather in SG

The weather in Singapore is hot and humid. The temperature at 3pm was 36C and it is forecast to have thundery showers in the evening in the northern, western and center part of the island.

Dinner: Bee Hoon & Roasted Duck

My dinner was fried bee hoon and a plateful of boneless duck. The 2 dishes were delightful and prices reasonable ( bee hoon $4.50 and duck $10).

The increase in prices are unjustifiable

I've not been drinking kopi from the NTUC Foodfare for a few months. This morning, I ordered a cup of kopi O and was shocked to find out the price has increased by 20% (from 80c to $1).
NTUC's vision is  " To be Singapore's Leading World-Class Retailer with a Heart" but at 20% increase in the kopi O which is equivalent to an airconditioned foodcourt price, does it really have a "Heart"?
I do not mind paying the increase as I can afford it but what about the heartland's retired and jobless uncles and aunties?
I didn't check the prices of other stuff they are selling as I wasn't interested. I believe they would have also increase the prices of other goods.
Got up early to a humid and warm morning here in Singapore. There is so much I could nag about my country such as the jam packed shopping malls, eateries, the heavy traffic etc etc but at least, it is safer than most countries whereby the crime rates are extremely higher and people get killed in earthquake, landslides etc.
My wife is now in Southern Japan. She is visiting her parents in Kitakyushu. I did not want to go with her due to the earthquakes that recently hit that place a few days ago. Although her parents' place was not affected badly (just a few tremors only), I am still worried for them.

Of bananas and Yakult

After a heavy lunch of Biryani and laksa, I bought 2 packets of Yakult and a bunch of bananas. Nowadays, I consumed 2 bottles of Yakult a day to help ease my stomach from eating spicy food. The bananas help in defeating constipation and I eat at least 2 a day.

Senior lesbian female crew can get away with molest

Quite a number of senior male cabin crew had either been demoted or sacked as a result of molesting stewardesses. Most of the seniors were the Inflight Supervisors (IFS).
Strangely, no female senior cabin crew has been accused of molesting the junior stewardesses. Yes, I am talking about the lesbian female senior cabin crew a.k.a IFSs. There may not be as many lesbian IFSs as the horny male IFS but I can assure that there are at least a few dozens in the airline.
In my opinion, the stewardesses that the IFSs preyed on were newbies.
Firstly, being new they are too scared to complain against their senior female colleagues. There is seemingly nothing wrong for a female senior to touch the hair, faces and even the body of a stewardess. These actions are allowed in the name of "grooming checks". However, a senior male crew are not allowed to touch the stewardesses' parts.
Management would also not believe the stewardesses should they complain against their senior female superior for molesting them.
That's the reason why we have never heard of stewardesses complaining against their senior female colleagues for molest.

Female pilot, ex-lover of an IFSs

The media is abuzz with news of SIA recruiting female pilots. So far, there are 2 female cadet pilots undergoing training in Australia. It would probably cost S$200,000 to train each cadet pilot and $500,000 for a captain. It's a costly affair as compared to a stewardess or steward ($20,000).
Talking about female pilots, I remember an ex-stewardess became the first female captain in this part of the world. She was the daughter of an airline captain and an ex-lover of a female Inflight Supervisor or IFSs.
There isn't any big deal when SIA announced it will start recruiting female pilots as many airlines already had female pilots.

Yishun Laksa

Since we were quite free today, we went to Yishun for our favourite laksa. Before the laksa, I had a haircut nearby.
The laksa is still as good as the last time we ate about a month ago. Towards the later part of the afternoon, the laksa gravy was thicker and tastier.
After laksa, we proceeded to a coffee shop nearby for our favourite "big pow". A little disappointed as the pow wasn't as juicy as I expected.

The ice tea was refreshingly tasty as compared to the one which we usually drink at a coffee shop near our home.

Mizzy Nasi Lemak

Had Mizzy nasi lemak + otak for breakfast @ Changi Village. People told me that Mizzy's standard is on the decline but on the contrary, the food is still good and price reasonable. I had the set D which is made up of the rice, fried egg, ikan billis and 2 medium size selar fish. I had an otak too and the price was $4.50.

The satays were so good that ....

The satays at a Chong Pang market stall was so good that after having 10 sticks initially,we ordered another 20 sticks with the ketupat.
This stall sells its satays and ketupats for 60 cents each. However, we do not mind paying 10 cts more than the other stall's 50 cts satay.
This is one of the best, placing the Satay Club's satays miles behind in terms of taste and pricing.

Chong Pang hawkers' food for lunch

We waited till we were almost hungry before proceeding to Chong Pang market hawker stalls for lunch.
The roasted meat in one of the coffee shops (Jing Ma Che) were yummy although the meat were chopped into small pieces ( I prefer larger pieces).
Two doors away, there is a tim sum stall. I bought the char siew chee chong fun and pow from it. Good stuff.
After a sugar cane drink from another stall outside of the coffee shop, we ordered 10 sticks of satay just to find out whether they taste as good as those at the Satay Club. In fact, the satays and its sauce were superior in quality compared to the Club satay. So no more visit to the Satay Club which was further from our home than Chong Pang.

Good kway chup & pig's trotter

Perhaps I have posted this before but I want to reiterate that this kway chup and pig's trotter is one of the best in Singapore. The stall is manned by an elderly lady who is known as "Sister" at block 130, Tampines St 11. The name of the kopi shop is Eng Huat Lee.
The stall is opened daily from 10am till late. It closes on Monday afternoon. Try their home-made chilli sauce and you will agree that it is also as good as the rest of the food.
