This ice cream from Sheng Siong supermarket is not only delicious but cheap too. It comes in chocolate or vanilla flavor with a thick coating of chocolate and nuts. You can get 3 for $2 which means each ice cream is about 67 cents. We bought 15 sticks for $10. Try buying when you next visit Sheng Siong.

Lunch = claypot rice and fish/cuttlefish porridge and dinner was....
The claypot rice and sliced fish/cuttlefish porridge from A-One were mouth-watering. Of course they are more expensive than the ones at the hawker center or coffee shops. For the 2 dishes we paid about $22. The ones from the hawker stalls would probably cost $8.
Dinner was Superman Nasi Lemak, Haagen-Dazs Ice Cream and Kopi
Superman Nasi Lemak stall is situated at Block 447A, Jalan Kayu (next to the Buddhist temple). It is a newcomer to the neighbourhood. The nasi lemak is delightful with a slightly strong coconut flavour. The ikan billis and the fried chicken wings are crispy and the sambal is tasty. The Superman set is $2.60 and comprises of rice, chicken wing, fried egg and fried peanuts. If you ask for extra toppings like ikan billis or vegetables etc you will have to pay an extra 80 cents for each item.
The Hagaan-Dazs Vanilla Caramel Almond ice-cream and a cup of strong kopi completes our simple and yet delicious dinner.

Brunch,afternoon cake set and dinner
The Japanese Hamburg steak was home made. It comprised of minced beef with eggs, minced parsley etc etc. We did not use much sauce so it was a little bland but healthy. We had the fried egg, potatoes and fried sliced brinjal as accompaniments. The dish wasn't superb but satisfying.
The cakes set was from McDonald's McCafe. There were 2 types, one was the cheese cake and the other, the chocolate cake. The set came with a cup of cappuccino. Yummy but high in calories.
The nasi lemak was from a newly opened stall at a coffee shop near our place. For the price ($3.20) it was really worth it. If you minus the ikan billis, the set is only $2.60 which is reasonable.
It gives the famous Punggol Nasik Lemak a run for their money.
The ice-cream was from Magnum. A box of 6 cost $10.90 but if you buy 2 boxes, it is at a reasonable $16.90. The special offer is only available at Fairprice. At the 7-11 stores there is no special offer so one would have to pay $10.90 for a box or $21.80 for 2 boxes.

Today's meals
After a plateful of watermelon and black coffee from Toast Box for breakfast, lunch was the prawn mee which was cooked by my beloved wife. Sssh...the soup wasn't as delicious as when I cooked it. It was mild and does not have sufficient salt in it. Not much kick but healthy.
Dinner was char siew, siew yok and roasted duck rice ($5.50 each plate) at a coffee shop stall near our place (quite good). After dinner, we decided to visit the 7-11 convenience store for the Magnum ice cream ($4.20).

Cheese+egg toast, Japanese lunch and a video of "fried ice-cream"
The Japanese lunch set ($13.90) is known as tendon which is tempura (prawn & chicken) with rice plus pickles and chawanmushi (steamed egg custard).
The video was taken at a pasar malam stall selling Thai fried ice-cream. The five rolls of ice- cream is $4. I bought it out of curiosity. I find the taste just like the ordinary ice cream.

My desktop is unstable and so I got the above one which is also Acer Desktop for about $1,400 today (23.8 inches).
The old one has been in used for 4 years and it was a very good set. I got a free China made tablet for buying a mouse that cost $6. Hopefully, this pc may last as long as the old set. I am a heavy user, using up to 18 hours a day. It is a good investment.
We had our breakfast at Tampines Ikea just before proceeding to Courts to buy the computer. The restaurant was quite crowded but as crowded as most Saturdays as most people would have left the country for vacations. The school holiday will end this coming Tuesday.
The above dish was the salmon which I felt was not fresh ($9.90). The pasta was so so but the chicken wings were good. Total damage was $23. Believe it or not we had hot dogs at a kiosk before we left for Courts.
Got this box of Magnum ice cream from a 7-11 store last night for $11 (box of 6). I ate up 3 of them and truly enjoyed it so much. It was supposed to be a dessert after my dinner of spaghetti.

Our oddball schoolmate
Bai and I used to be schoolmates. We have not met since leaving school many years ago. It was in 2014 that we met each other at a function.
From that year onward we made it a point to meet with each other and other schoolmates once a month.
Bai as usual was a bubbly and talkative man. He was the live wire of the group.
One day, Bai stopped attending our monthly gatherings. Some of us called him but he simply refused to meet us. We detected something was wrong with Bai. Even over the phone, he would not talk much.
Then suddenly out of the blue,a year later, Bai appeared at our monthly meeting. He was his usual self again, chatty and cheerful.
We found out from Bai that the reason for his absence from our meetings was due to depression. He, for no apparent reason, fell into depression. He told us the thought of suicide was in his mind. But now he has recovered and is enjoying life again.
Just the other day we were shocked to learn that Bai had left Singapore 3 months ago for a tour of Europe and had been reported missing. There was no word from him. His family members failed in their efforts to get in touch with him. His phone line was no longer in use. We are keeping our fingers crossed and hope nothing bad has happened to Bai.
But then who knows, he may appear, out of the blue at our meeting again.

These last 2 days we've been craving for junk food. First, there was the curry puff followed by Toast Box's kaya toast set with kopi O. Then it was the bar chor mee. Second, in the evening we had the Ben & Jerry ice cream and Nissin cup noodles(transferred into a bowl as shown). Come tomorrow, we will going back to our healthy food menu. No more junk food for the next few months, we hope.
