We are trying to grow cherry tomatoes as well as a few parsley plants. As you can see the tomatoes are still green and may take a month or two before they are ripened. The last picture is the parsley plants.

The sausages, bacon, fried egg and toast were all very delicious. The quality of the food in Japan is of a very high standard. This is so because they are produced locally and unlike in Singapore we have to import them. The katsu don and champon noodles were delectable and delightful.
Since I am back in Singapore I begin to miss the food in Japan.

Breakfast & Dinner @ The Ship Restaurant (Nex Mall)
Today's breakfast is a little different. Had the Sarawak pineapple ($5) from Sheng Shiong supermart and the Nonya ba-chang (meat dumpling). The pineapple is sweet and juicy and is hard to come by these days. The cheaper pineapple is about $1.50 but is smaller and not so juicy.
The ba-chang ($1.80) is satisfactory but nowhere compared to the ones from Joo Chiat.
We had dinner at The Ship Restaurant in Nex Mall. We ordered the roast prime rib of beef ($39.90) and US ribeye steak set ($40.90). The meat were 240 gram per piece but overall they weren't as good as we expected. The bread rolls were dried and we didn't eat them at all. The beef lacked flavour and weren't worth paying for. In fact, Hot Tomato's beef are much tastier and cheaper. If not for the long dinner queue at Hot Tomato, we would have dined there instead of The Ship. Total bill came to $95.10 for the 2 orders. To conclude, The Ship was a big disappointment!

Singapore national breakfast
This is a typical and most common Singapore national breakfast. A set comes with 2 eggs in piping hot water (in the blue and green containers), sliced kaya and butter toasts, dark soya sauce and pepper and a cup of hot tea or coffee. We had this breakfast at a heartland coffee shop. Each set cost $2.60c.
Below is a YouTube video which I took from the Internet. It describes what the above really is. However, the way Singaporean eat this breakfast is not to dip the toast into the egg but to eat them separately. I think the YouTuber is not a Singaporean.

After almost 24 hours without food
After our last meal of char kway teow/hokkien mee and roasted duck yesterday (24 hours ago), we started eating the above this early afternoon. The breakfast was the usual bacon, sausages, fried eggs, salad and cheese on toast. Today, we had the short bread as an extra accompaniment. The drink before this was a cup of hot Suzuki coffee but the Japanese tea above was the drink that went with this meal.
This is our first time eating at Rong Hua. The bah kut is not as good as those sold at Song Fa. It's mild and not peppery but not too bad though.
The pork ribs were not "fatty" but rather lean.Their business is not as brisk as Song Fa. We would not patronise this place given that we have Song Fa at our doorstep (Seletar Mall).

Today's breakfast : Mee Pok and Lor Mee
Lor mee (Chinese: 鹵麵; Pe̍h-ōe-jī: ló͘-mī) is a Chinese-inspired noodle dish served in a thick starchy gravy and thick flat yellow noodles (also known as lor mee). The dish is eaten by Hokkiens (Min Nan speakers) in Singapore and Malaysia. The thick gravy is made of corn starch, spices and eggs. The ingredients added into the noodles are usually ngo hiang, fish cake, fish, round and flat meat dumplings (usually chicken or pork), half a boiled egg, and other items depending on the stall and the price paid. Vinegar and garlic can be added as an optional item. The dish is also eaten with red chili. Traditional versions also include bits of fried fish as topping though few stalls serve this version anymore.

3 October 2015 Saturday
We ventured out to have our breakfast at Seletar Mall which is a 5 minute walk from our home. As you can see we take the hazardous nature of the haze seriously. It is not a laughing matter as many around us have fallen sick with respiratory diseases, asthma and other health complications. We do not want to take the chance of falling ill and so we equipped ourselves with masks, head gears and sunglasses.
Along the way to the mall, we witnessed many young couples with babies and people of all ages walking around happily without masks, oblivious of the haze. Were these people gullible or just couldn't be bothered to wear the mask?
The PSI at 9 am was 177 which is in the high end of the unhealthy level. I understand that this horrendous haze may be around until end November *sigh*.
I was in Fukuoka a few months ago. It was Yufuin to be exact, a small hot spring resort. The place was beautiful without any haze or pollution like the one we are experiencing now.
Dinner consists of home made Fried Gyoza, BBQ sauce Spare Ribs with Daikon (radish), Grate Onion and Ocra with a small serving of rice.
