Having hot dog@ Ikea

This is called a "Combo 1" which is a hot dog plus a free flow of soft drinks like Pepsi, ice tea, ice soda etc. You only need to pay $2. The chilli and tomato ketchup as well as mustard for the hot dog is also free flow (self-service). I seldom give this a miss whenever I am at Ikea Tampines.

Malay rice lunch, Day 3 of growing towgay and spring onion

This Malay rice is from a coffee shop stall at Serangoon Garden. Two plates of rice,a piece of chicken rendang, 2 fish cutlets in asam pedas, a small dish of sambal goreng and a plate of bayam vegie cost $12 which is inexpensive. However, about a year ago, the food tasted better and a bit more expensive. Today, the quality has deteriorated and I suspect the original cook has left. As for the bean sprouts or towgay which I am experimenting growing them (as well as the spring onion plants) in my apartment, this is the 3rd day since I've started. Looks like within the next 2 days,we should be able to harvest them.

Breakfast: Pork cutlet noodles at Pasir Ris Drive 6, Blk 444

Was at Pasir Ris area this morning and saw a long queue of people at a noodle stall. I was curious and although not hungry, joined in the queue. Usually if the queue is long, it could mean 3 things:

1) The food is good
2) The food is cheap
3) All of the above

After 15 minutes of waiting, I got my food which I found out was good and quite cheap ($4.50).

Growing spring onions (my first time)

This is my first time growing spring onions. I love to see the plant sprouting from the shallots that we kept for cooking. I am inexperienced in gardening stuff as I've always live in an apartment throughout most of my life. Therefore, I am excited about the whole thing. Perhaps, it is the start of my new hobby.

My Sunday brunch

I've recently started to add more fruits to my diet. As you can see in the picture above, I've bananas, Jack fruits, mangoes and water melon. Eating lots of fruits is good for the skin and overall health.
The other stuff are the gyoza or fried Japanese dumpling which we got from the supermarket. They are delicious and are priced reasonably ( a pkt of 30 pcs cost about $8+). We ate the gyoza with chilli oil mixed with a little vinegar.

The weather in Singapore

It is hot and cloudy as at 12:30pm. The outdoor temperature is 33C and humidity is 59%. Wind is 10 km/h. Thundery showers are expected in the northern, western and central Singapore in the late afternoon.

My Sunday home-cooked dinner

Today's lunch@ home

Bukit Batok by-election on 7 May 2016

The political campaign between Chee Soon Juan of the Singapore Democratic Party (SDP) and Murali Pillai of the People's Action Party (PAP) is going on at the moment. The constituency of Bukit Batok was left vacant when the PAP's MP David Ong resigned over an alleged extra marital affair with a female worker.
Polling day is on 7 May.
Bukit Batok has a registered voters of around 25,727 and 96% live in public housing (HDB). Voting is compulsory.

Who will win the Bt Batok election? My guess is PAP's Murali Pillai who in my opinion will garner at least 80% of the votes.

Thai food @ Zakka wasn't that great, Soft-Bite is good

Today's breakfast was banana yogurt and kopi O at home. Early lunch was at Zakka Thai restaurant at Waterway Point. The Thai food was nothing to crow about...completely average!

While we were there, we bought the "Soft Bite" bread from Four Leaves bakery for tomorrow's breakfast. This bread is ideal for toasting. We have stopped the idea of having cheese with our toasts because I understand that processed cheese isn't healthy. So we eat our toasts with butter or with fried eggs.

Afternoon snack with Soft-Bite bread & mango

I didn't eat dinner tonight but instead walked for 1 1/2 hour around my place. I hope the walk would help give me a better night sleep.

Yogurt, watermelon and Jack fruits for breakfast and also not forgetting my usual cup of home-brewed kopi O.

Yakiniku Lunch

Sushi/sashimi@ Sushi Express for dinner

We had our dinner at "Sushi Express" near our place. We didn't eat much as we were not very hungry. We had 6 plates of sushi/sashimi each. Each plate is $1.50 which is considered as reasonable. The sushi & sashimi are fresh and we do not feel thirsty like at Sake Sushi.
