Char Kway Teow & Indian Rojak
The other day my friend and I went to Chinatown to eat the Outram Park Char Kway Teow but found the stall closed for Chinese New Year (4/2 till 15/2). We were disappointment and had something else.
This afternoon, I avenged by ordering the Jalan Kayu Char Kway Teow ($6) and ate it with my wife. Of course, the Outram one is better but something is better than nothing. We also ordered the Indian Rojak ($8) which was also good.
Vacation in Darwin, Australia
My friend and his family of 4 travelled to Darwin recently and WhatsApp me the above pictures. The apartment for 4 cost S$1,150 for 5 nights plus they let them have a Toyota car. The above meals in the restaurant for 6 people (with 2 other friends)is priced at $230.
Looks like a cheap and good holiday.

Wierdo and sicko crew
Like in most companies where the staff numbered thousands, cabin crew has its weirdos too. Yes, I am talking about people or employees who are sick in their minds. These people or staff are generally older males and some females. They would do all sorts of undesirable things that would damage their reputation.
I'll give you the example of older male cabin crew who risked not only their jobs and gratuities but their reputations as well by molesting their younger female colleagues. Then you have the more senior stewardesses who would spend their time during nightstops pursing their "hobbies" like shoplifting or sleeping with men (usually passengers) who could pay them or bring them shopping.
Just over the last few years, some senior male crew had been given the boot for sexual harassment or molesting the stewardesses. A few of them had their $50,000 gratuities forfeited (dismissal means no gratuity). These days the young stewardesses would not hesitate to report their male counterparts for the slightest thing which they deem as sexual harassment. A supervisor was warned for using the term "condom" when talking to his leading stewardess.
One supervisor was sacked because he, on the pretext of coaching a new stewardess on his flight sat next to her during the lull period and touched her private part.
Another was also sacked because he invited himself into his stewardess room to have a drink with her (the alcoholic drink was stolen from the aircraft bar).
Yet there was another who went around playfully hitting his stewardesses buttocks.
All these three supervisors were fast approaching 60 (retirement age) and had their $50,000 gratuities forfeited.
Presently, there is an ex male crew who is being charged for raping an underage girl on numerous accounts. He is out on a $70,000 bail.
The stewardesses also have their fair share of doing things detrimental to their reputations and jobs.
One was caught stealing underwear from departmental store, prosecuted and barred from entering that country. Another one was caught shoplifting in a local departmental store. She was fined $2,000.
Personally, I think the odd behaviour of the crew I mentioned above has to do with flying into and out of different and varied time zones.
Anyone wanna comment?

Bah chor mee & meat, char siew pows @ AMK
The bar chor mee tasted very good. I have never eaten there but had in the past tar-pow or take away. When we ate them at home the noodles were soft and dried but still tasted delicious. So today we decided to drive to Ang Mo Kio Ave 3 to try the noodles at the coffee shop. The taste was also as good as when we brought them home.
Next to the noodle stall was the home made pow stall. The smaller pows were char siew pows and bigger ones were meat pows. They were excellent and better than some sold in big tim sum restaurants.
FYI, the bar cho mee is $3 a bowl, the smaller char siew pows is 60 cts each and the meat pows is $1.30cts each.

Haircut at EC & home cooked lunch
Went for a haircut at EC (Nex Mall). As one who is over 65, I was charged $10. The others have to pay $12. This barber shop is owned by a Japanese company I was told. The styling is fairly good. I get my haircut once in 2 months.
When I was a kid the barber used to visit me at my home. He charged me 50 cents for a haircut but that was 65 years ago. When I was a little older, I used to visit the Chinese barber shops. They would clean my ears after each haircut. It was if I am not wrong, $1 per cut. Then, there were the Indian barbers and they would massage your shoulder and twist your neck after the haircut. If you are unlucky, you would leave the shop with a twisted neck.

Japanese curry rice and bubble tea from Koi
The Japanese curry tasted authentic. It was cooked by a Japanese man.The dish was sold at NTUC Foodfare,Seletar Mall and cost $7.80 for the pork curry or $6.80 for the chicken curry. Being a Monday, I got a discount of 12%. This is a privilege enjoyed by the Pioneer Generation. The bubble and grass jelly tea is sold by KOI. They are one of our favourite drinks. We paid about $6 plus for two.

After almost 24 hours without food
After our last meal of char kway teow/hokkien mee and roasted duck yesterday (24 hours ago), we started eating the above this early afternoon. The breakfast was the usual bacon, sausages, fried eggs, salad and cheese on toast. Today, we had the short bread as an extra accompaniment. The drink before this was a cup of hot Suzuki coffee but the Japanese tea above was the drink that went with this meal.
This is our first time eating at Rong Hua. The bah kut is not as good as those sold at Song Fa. It's mild and not peppery but not too bad though.
The pork ribs were not "fatty" but rather lean.Their business is not as brisk as Song Fa. We would not patronise this place given that we have Song Fa at our doorstep (Seletar Mall).
