My breakfast and ex-crew in bad financial shape

I had this for breakfast since I am not keen on outside food. On a separate note, I met an ex-senior crew on the street. It was supposed to be a pleasant surprise because we have not seen each other for quite a long time. In fact, it turned out to be a meeting which caused discomfort for me. He wanted to borrow $5,000 from me citing business losses. I know this guy is a gambler and must be in a bad financial state. He showed me his old Rolex watch and said I could have it as a collateral until he paid me his loan.
I dislike to be in this type of situation. I know for a fact if I lend him the money I would not get it back. The watch that he showed me was a old (about 30 years) boy sized Rolex which at most cost $1,500 if he was to pawn it. I turned him down and suddenly he got mad at me. He told me he was very disappointed with me because he heard that I am doing well in my business and yet won't give him a "small" loan. As a gesture of past friendship, I handed him $200 as a gift for the coming Lunar New Year. Guess what he told me? "You are prospering and only $200 as a gift?".
At that point, I almost asked him to return me the money as I felt this guy is not a grateful person. I made some excuses and left him.

Noble shares is even worth buying now

Had McDonald's Prosperity Burger for lunch today. This burger is only available around the Chinese New Year season. It's tasty and value for money. A set cost around $9.

Dinner was light. 2 slices of toast from "Four leaves" with cheddar cheese and butter. A cup of yesterday's mussel chowder and some broccoli.

Didn't do much as just recovered from flu. So spent most of my time monitoring my shares. I am glad that SIA has raised the offer price of Tiger to 45 cents from 41 cents.
Noble is another counter that is worth monitoring since the price has plummeted to a very low of around 32 cents. One of the reasons Noble share has dropped a lot is due to Moody and S & P's downgrading it to "junk" status. I firmly believe that Noble is worth much much more than its current price. Many skeptics say that Noble may go bankrupt but it is utter rubbish. I have traded in Noble shares in recent days and made some money out of it. In fact, I have bought more at 33 cents and is waiting for it to go up. To me "no risk, no profits".

Home "quarantine" due to flu

No action today due to flu. Wife cooked Mussel Chowder to be eaten with whole grain bread. Let's see what's next.

3pm:

Slept in the afternoon after eating the above. Tired due to the menacing flu. I don't usually get flu so easily in the past because I used to drink apple cider vinegar. Perhaps I would be down with flu once in 10 years but since I've given up taking apple cider I get it at least once a year. Reason I gave up consuming apple cider is because I thought it gave me the skin allergy.

5pm:

Broke house "quarantine" and went to a nearby mall to do some grocery shopping with my "Chef" (wife la).
Flu disappearing a little and hopefully after a good night rest, I should be up and about tomorrow.

Flu and trying to recuperate

Got a mild flu (runny nose) but coconut juice helped relieve the discomfort. Stayed at home trying to recuperate.

Breakfast and lunch at home

This is the breakfast lovingly prepared by my wife. Even the yogurt is home made. I always enjoy her cooking. The cup of kopi O is not shown but it is Suzuki Coffee.

Lunch was Macaroni Au Gratin also prepared by my wife. A great cook she is and me, an appreciative eater.

The new Downtown Line

I supposed it was still too early to have the Downtown line cabin filled with passengers as it was about 8 am when I was travelling in it. The train cabin was clean and the travel was smooth. I heard by 8:30 am the train will be packed with people going to work as well as tourists.

The Church of our Lady of Lourdes

Yesterday, when I was at Rochor Centre I saw this immaculate church. It is called "The Church of our Lady of Lourdes". I thought it was interesting and so I snapped a few shots of this church. It has a rich heritage background and was gazetted as a national monument in 2005.

"One Ton Me" stall at Bugis

I was at the Bugis area this morning and came across this noodle stall with a name that is funny. Instead of "Wanton Mee" it is "One Ton Me". I must say the owner is really innovative. Instead of wanton mee I ordered a bowl of Ipoh Hor Fun ($3) and a cup of kopi O (80 cts). The noodles and kopi O tasted quite good.

Coincidentally, I've decided to stop conducting seminar/talks for cabin crew wannabes. The E-Guide is still available at www.ourcabincrew.com

A bad start for the world stock markets in 2016

China's weak manufacturing data spooked the stock markets around the world and sent their shares plummeting. Shanghai lost 7% on the first day of trading for year 2016. Tokyo and its Asian counterparts all did poorly today.
Tonight will see the Dow nosediving too. It's a bad start for 2016 both politically and economically for the world.
Iran has cut off diplomatically ties with Saudi Arabia over its execution of a pro-Iran Shite clergy leader in Saudi. The execution have triggered angry protests and violence in Iraq, Pakistan and other pro Shites countries.
Lets see how the Dow perform tonight.

No Yee Sang this Lunar New Year in Singapore?

10 days after eating raw fish in August last year, a Mr Sim fell gravely sick and was warded in a hospital in Singapore. The doctors said that Mr Sim was infected by the group B Streptococcus (GBS) bacteria.
As a result he had his hands and feet amputated.
For generation, people have been eating raw fish and none had suffered so much as Mr Sim. The blame was not about the raw fish per se but about how the raw fish was stored. In a hot and humid Singapore, the raw fish should be stored properly in the fridge and not exposed in the open for a long time. Bacteria will gather and quickly multiply once the fish is not properly and hygienically stored.
The authorities have looked into the matter and have disallowed hawkers to sell raw fish until further notice. They have allowed restaurants which have adequate and hygienically stowages to continue selling raw fish, albeit only salt water fish which was not responsible for the GBS.
This Chinese New Year will definitely see a drop of the "Prosperity Toss" or Yee Sang (salad & raw fish) which is being celebrated here on the seventh day of the New Year.

Chicken pasta au gratin for dinner

Bak Kut Teh (Pork Ribs) @ Chinatown and toured MBS

Took a Downtown Line to Chinatown for jalan jalan and came across this "Morning Bak Kut Tea". Ordered the standard set ($4.50) and found it to be pleasantly nice. Also had a cup of kopi O (0.90 cts) at the next door drink stall.
Also toured the Marina Bay. The Gondola ride is $10 per person in a gondola for max 3 adults. The ride is about 10 minutes. I was there too early because the operation starts at 11 am and so did not join in the ride.

My favourite French fries

My favourite fries is the cheezy fries from Bugger King. No other fries can be as good as this one. The bugger is so so.
