928 Yishun Laksa is at Block 928, Yishun Central 1. It closes on every Sunday. Operating hours are from 10am till 7pm or while stock last. A big bowl cost $3.30 and a small one $2.80. The gravy and chilli is good. Wish the see-hum or cockles are bigger. The queue is usually long especially during lunch time. The long queue is also due to people tarpowing (take-away) many packets of laksa.

Today's breakfast : Mee Pok and Lor Mee
Lor mee (Chinese: 鹵麵; Pe̍h-ōe-jī: ló͘-mī) is a Chinese-inspired noodle dish served in a thick starchy gravy and thick flat yellow noodles (also known as lor mee). The dish is eaten by Hokkiens (Min Nan speakers) in Singapore and Malaysia. The thick gravy is made of corn starch, spices and eggs. The ingredients added into the noodles are usually ngo hiang, fish cake, fish, round and flat meat dumplings (usually chicken or pork), half a boiled egg, and other items depending on the stall and the price paid. Vinegar and garlic can be added as an optional item. The dish is also eaten with red chili. Traditional versions also include bits of fried fish as topping though few stalls serve this version anymore.
Was at Changi Airport T1
I was at Changi Airport Terminal 1 and saw these work of arts mounted on the wall of a construction site. Thought it was interesting as they are miniatures of some of the well known places in Singapore. Foremost top picture is the Sentosa Gateway followed by the Botanic Garden, The Flyer and Changi Airport Tower.

Tuesday special: "Chief steward Henry's encounter on his Shanghai nightstop"
This story was related to me by CS Henry on his encounter with a beautiful girl during his first nightstop in Shanghai.
Henry was not the frivolous type of person. He was a no-nonsense character and one who took life seriously. He was also a loner.
One night in Shanghai, a young gorgeous Chinese girl tried to befriend Henry at the hotel lobby. Usually, Henry would avoid making friends with strangers especially beautiful girls. Henry was a paranoid to a certain extent. But somehow, this girl was irresistible.
The girl approached Henry and spoke to him in Mandarin, a language Henry was not familiar with. Sensing that Henry could not understand Mandarin, the girl communicated in her limited English.
She told him she would like to bring him for a nice Chinese dinner which was about a 10 minute taxi ride from Henry's hotel. Henry felt a little suspicious but relented because he was mesmerised by her charm.
They hailed a taxi and in no time reached the place. It was a nice little restaurant on the second floor of an old building.
The restaurant staff welcomed them and Henry noticed that his partner was familiar with them.
Then came the menu which was written in Chinese. Henry gestured to his partner to order the food.
There were 6 dishes of food ordered by the girl. Not once did Henry worry about the bill as food was rather cheap in Shanghai back then. At the most, Henry thought to himself the dinner would not cost more than the equivalent of S$100 which Henry had in his pocket.
Henry's dinning partner was charming and a pleasant hostess. Henry told me he thoroughly enjoyed the food and the company of that girl.
Now came the shocker. The amount came to about the equivalent of S$500. Henry knew he did not have the means to pay the bill. Henry knew he was conned. He pretended to head for the toilet and in a split second, Henry ran down the staircase for his dear life. The restaurant staff ran after Henry but he was too quick for them.
After the long chase, the staff gave up. Henry quickly hopped into a taxi nearby and returned to the hotel safely.

My Debit Card
Quite busy this morning because I went to reduce my balance in this debit card account to a small amount. I did this because someone had all his money in his account wiped out. It was due to his stupidity by providing the details of his debit account over the Internet to someone who claimed he was from WhatApps. He was told his WhatApps account was will be closed if he did not pay the subscription fees of 99 cents. He was asked to pay via his debit card.Thinking it was only 99 cents he gave "WhatsApp" all the details about his debit account. Then the scammer withdrew all his S$1,000 in his account.
Many would know that debit cards are very useful for payment of goods that we buy. The card holder also get good discounts. An example is whenever I put petrol in my vehicle I get a 4 % discount.
The danger is that if you lose or get the card stolen, the other person could used it to make payment or withdrawal. The money will be immediately deducted from your bank account.
Afternoon weather:
Rain in the late afternoon, heavy in some areas but light where I am staying (north-east) Temperature @ 4 pm is 29C and PSI is 56 (moderate)
Sunday, November 1, 2015
Temperature ranges from 25C to 32C with thundery shower
Temperature ranges from 25C to 32C with thundery shower in the late afternoon over northern, eastern and western part of Singapore. Current PSI is 44 which is in the "good" range. Currently it is cloudy all over the island.
Using the white I- Card from Kopitiam, we got a 30% discount for our sandwich kopi O set. Total cost for 2 sets was $3.50.
We found that the kopi O was not up to our expectation and so we went to a nearby mall ToastBox for our kopi O (receipt below).
The kopi O at ToastBox was freshly brewed and cost a bit more than at Kopitiam ( $3.40 for 2 cups)

One reader of my blog at www.bohtong.org was upset when he could not find something he would like to read here through the link I stated in that blog.
He slammed me saying this particular blog was boring with things like weather report etc.
One of the reasons for this blog is also for my foreign country readers. Examples are those living in Ontario, Canada, USA, Australia and they are interested in the weather report. Most used to live in Singapore and are delighted to see the familiar hawker foods that I post here.
Therefore, I seek your understanding if you're unable to find things that you would want to read.

Since the haze has almost gone away, I took a train down to Marina Bay last evening and spent some time over there. These were some of the photos I took of the waterfront, the Marina Bay shopping areas and Garden by the Bay. The Marina Bay Sands Casino is nearby. Had an enjoyable time there.
The header photo was snapped by me yesterday evening. It is the Esplanade - Theatres on the Bay.
