My weight has stabilized

Since my weight has stabilized around 69.2/69.4 kg, I am able to enjoy my favorite hawker food without feeling guilty.
I had sliced fish in soup with bitter gourd and lettuce plus a bowl of rice for lunch
and a bowl of Eng's noodles as well as some hay pia for dinner. With these food, I am confident I will wake tomorrow morning weighing in the low 69 kg. Below are pictures of today's meals.

Determined to control my body weight

After 2 days of gorging on tim sum and Thai food,I gained 800 grams of weight. As a health freak, I was terribly disappointed with myself. So to counter the weight gain, I stuck to food like vegetables and fish with a bowl of rice over 2 days, I managed to not only lost the 800 I've gained but lost a total of 1.6 kg.

Sanook Thai Restaurant at Changi Jewel

We ordered the Sanook set meal for 2. It was a satisfying meal and worth the money. The meal set was $26.90++. The chendol was an additional item ($3.90). The Thai chendol was not fantastic at all. It does not contain gula Melaka (Malacca brown sugar) so it was not up to my expectation.
The place was packed the Q was quite long even at 3.30 pm. Good food and a "must try".

Tim sum breakfast with friends

We had a nice tim sum with our friends at Tung Lok (Orchard Towers) on Sunday. It was a buffet service from 10.00 am till 12.30 pm. When we arrived at 10 am the restaurant was full. However, we had made a reservation the day before so seating isn't a problem. The food was not super good but good enough for the price of $28.50++ for each person. I particularly like the chicken feet and the siew mia.

Lunch with my Grab driver friend

Met my friend who is a Grab driver. He persuaded me to have lunch with him at Food Republic. Over lunch, he related lots of interesting stories regarding his current job. He has been driving for over 7 years and is making a decent living, he told me. One day when I have the time I will publish his stories here.
Since he asked me for lunch, he paid for the meal which was quite good.

These beef steaks are from Hot Tomato (NEX Mall). Between 3 pm and 5.30 pm from Monday till Friday, HT offer a discount of 25% on its main course. Over 60 years old customers can get a further 5% discount (total 30%). The offer is not available on weekends and eve of public holidays.
The 2 of us spent a total of $45. The steaks were juicy and tender. This was not the first time we were at HT.

Lunch@ Market Grill

Had a delicious lunch with a friend at Market Grill. The lobster roll was the best I had followed by the Kagoshima rump (100 gm),Fisherman's Pie and Creme Brulee for dessert.
I like the write up by Alexis Cheong on Market Grill. Go ahead and read what Alexis has said about the food served at Market Grill....here

Singapura Heritage Food @ Seletar Mall

The visit to Singapura Heritage at Seletar Mall was worth our time. Yes, I am talking about the food sold there. It is situated on the 3rd level, above where McDonald's is. I was craving for Eng's noodles for a while now and it happened there is an Eng's Wanton Noodle stall there. There are a few other stalls selling Old Hainan Curry rice, Prawn Mee etc.
We had the Eng's wanton mee for lunch and Prawn mee as well as the hay pia set for dinner. They were all flavorsome except for the popiah (spring roll).
Besides the above, there are Song Fa Bakut Teh, Hai Di Lao, Ding Tai Fung and many other eateries at Seletar Mall.

My former colleagues

My ex-colleague John Chua, the man on your right is one of the fastest sprinters in his age group. He is 76 and able to sprint 100 meter in 16.25 secs.
The other guy is Percy, a former inflight supervisor with SIA. He left the airlines many years ago and immigrated to Australia.

Japanese food at Bukit Timah Plaza

The Japanese eatery at Bukit Timah Plaza sells one of the freshest Japanese food in SG. The kaisendon is  as good as the ones in Japan. The oysters are also fresh and delicious. If you buy 3 oysters you will get 1 for free. Each oyster cost $4.90.

Tasty yummy bar chor mee

This bar chor mee is one of the best I've ever tasted. The chilli and a combination of other ingredients resulted in a well balanced and tasty sauce. The mee kia is the stereotyped sold in the supermarkets. Had the owner of the stall takes the trouble and effort to create his own noodles up to the standard of Eng's Noodles then I think this stall will have endless long queue of customers.
The stall is at a newly opened coffee shop at Block 455, Sengkang West Ave. It operates 24 hours a day.

Tim Sum at Old Kitchen

Had Tim Sum with 3 other friends at Hong Kong Old Kitchen Novena SQ2 on Sunday afternoon. The place was not very crowded. The food was delicious but a bit pricey. A small meat combo cost $32 and a small eggplant with minced meat is $16.80. This is our first time there but don't think we will revisit again.

Can't wait to devour our favorite hawker food

The very evening we were released from our 14 day SHN (quarantine), we proceeded to a shopping mall near our home and ate one of our favorite noodles, Pontian noodles. After noodles, we had Yakun Kaya toast, soft cooked eggs and kopi O which we missed a lot.
Frankly, the hawker foods are delicious and addictive. Japan has nice food too but somehow I missed our local dishes.

Swab test

We did our swab test at the hotel lobby on Sunday and yesterday we were informed of the results which was "negative".
This morning, the immigration officers did a check to see whether we are in our hotel room. We had to repeat the last 4 digits of our i/c numbers and also show our i/c to them.
We should be checking out of the hotel by tomorrow afternoon. Finally, the 14 day quarantine will be over.
