Invited for X'mas eve dinner. It's mostly meaty stuff (turkey, beef, knuckles etc). Has been eating too much meat and have to go on a diet from tomorrow.

We were at our relatives' house for dinner. Last night, I had a huge dinner with my friends. Has been eating too much and so from tomorrow, I will try and eat less, perhaps 1 meal per day only.

Chicken kebab at pasar malam

I was at the pasar malam and bumped into this stall selling chicken kebab. I've not eaten kebabs for a long time and decided to have a bite. The Q was quite long and it was a sign that the kebabs must be delicious. I ordered one piece ($4) and took it home for my lunch. It was yummy and later in the evening, I bought one for my wife and she liked it too.
This hawker has stopped selling lamb and beef kebabs as they were not popular with the Chinese which is the majority race in SG.

Delish Takoyaki in Japan

Takoyaki  is a ball-shaped Japanese snack made of a wheat flour-based batter and cooked in a special molded pan. It is typically filled with minced or diced octopus (tako), tempura scraps (tenkasu), pickled ginger, and green onion.Takoyaki are brushed with takoyaki sauce (similar to Worcestershire sauce) and mayonnaise, and then sprinkled with green laver (aonori) and shavings of dried bonito. There are many variations to the takoyaki recipe, for example, ponzu (soy sauce with dashi and citrus vinegar), goma-dare (sesame-and-vinegar sauce) or vinegared dashi.
Yaki is derived from "yaku" which is one of the cooking methods in Japanese cuisine, meaning "to fry or grill", and can be found in the names of other Japanese cuisine items such as okonomiyaki and ikayaki (other famous Osakan dishes).
The one above is sold near my relatives' house. This takoyaki is superb and it cost about 400 Yen
or the equivalent of S$5 for 6 pieces. When in Japan, you are never short of eating yummy Japanese
food. Once tasted the food in Japan, you won't want to eat them in Singapore.

We visited SORA at Changi Terminal 2 and the 2 dishes are some of the more popular ones. However, the soyu ramen is $17 ++ and the kiesan meshi cost $23 ++ which are expensive. In Japan, you probably pay S$10 and $15 respectively.

My healthy breakfast in Japan. No more roti prata or fried kway teow or those oily hawker food :)

The sausages, bacon, fried egg and toast were all very delicious. The quality of the food in Japan is of a very high standard. This is so because they are produced locally and unlike in Singapore we have to import them. The katsu don and champon noodles were delectable and delightful.
Since I am back in Singapore I begin to miss the food in Japan.

Tempura Don dinner in Japan

This tempura don and soba dinner set was one of the best I've ever eaten. The place is in Yahata Kurosaki station. The ebi or prawn tempura is yummy. The place wasn't even crowded at dinner time and so we had a nice time enjoying our S$12 meal.

Flight path video

This is a video showing the flight path from Fukuoka to Singapore about 45 minutes before arrival on Singapore Airlines flight SQ 655. For those who had traveled on SQ before this may not mean much but for those who have not flown, this may be extra information.

I am quite amazed to have found the post box in Fukuoka. We have done away with this many years ago.
The oranges are still trying to ripen in my in-laws' garden. They gave us some limes which are very refreshing to make drinks out of them.
