Dinner@ Whampo Drive
Satay at the Whampo Drive Hawker Center was as good as the ones at Chong Pang and Changi Village. However, the satay sauce was not spicy as it should be. The ketupat were a little hard. Each item cost 60 cents.
Next, we ordered the fried Hokkien Mee. The long queue attracted our attention. It is common knowledge that if there is a long queue, it means the food should be good. Out of curiosity, I joined the queue and after waiting for 15 minutes, I got my $6 plate of the Hokkien Mee. It tasted fairly good but below my expectation.

Home prepared sayor lodeh
Sayur lodeh is a soup prepared from vegetables in coconut milk popular in Indonesia, but most often associated with Javanese cuisine. It is also associated with Malay food here.
We eat sayor lodeh with white rice. Our sayor lodeh has glass noodles (tang hoon) in it.

Overly sensitive ex-colleagues
When one gets old there is a tendency to be overly sensitive with even the most trivial issues. Below were 3 of my ex-colleagues who belonged to the group.
- An old woman who got along fine with me in the work place and even after retiring from the airline. One day I asked her to endorse my e-guide which I was selling to the young aspiring cabin crew by saying a few words. She was upset with me for not telling her or put it this way I didn't rope her into the business. Ever since that day, 8 years ago, she refused to speak to me.
- Another ex-colleague who considered me his "friend" but disassociated with me once he found out that I was "Boh Tong" who published the book titled "Fasten your seatbelts". I think he was envious or perhaps ashamed of me.
- An ex-IFS was so upset with me when I didn't reply to his WhatsApp messages instantaneously that he blocked me from his phone.
Sometimes I wonder why do old people become so very sensitive and upset over small issues. Don't they value the years of friendship?

What a sad day !
We had lunch at a coffee shop near his place. Alex is having advance prostate cancer and was a former chief steward with Singapore Airline. He was given less than 2 years to live by his oncologists. The last time we met was in March this year. Although he is in the advance stage of cancer, one would not be able to tell it because he looked fine and has not lost weight since the last time I saw him.
Since he loves drinking beer, I offered to buy him a bottle but he declined as it was "still too early" according to him. The last time we met, I bought him 2 bottles of Tiger Beer.
We chatted for 2 hours before I decided to make a move. We agreed to meet again soon....God willing.
When I reached home, I had a WhatsApp message telling me that IFS Kok who had a stroke 5 days ago has just passed away. Kok, like Alex was also a colleague of mine. I felt so sad on hearing the news. Perhaps, tomorrow Straits Times' obituary column will have his "passing"mentioned.
Kok was a nice man and we missed him.

Rude Chong Pang hawkers
The hawkers selling the bbq chicken wings and satay were rather rude. I ordered some satays and requested an extra portion of the sauce as there were 2 of us. One of them told me off. She said that since I did not order the ketupat (rice)and my order was only 10 sticks of satay I was only entitled to a small bowl of satay sauce.
Anyway, they were the unfriendly type of hawkers and were like this even before today's incident. Today's incident was the last straw that broke the camel's back. Yes, I've decided to boycott this stall. The stall address is #01-159 at the Chong Pang Hawker Center.
Btw there is another satay stall behind this one but it opens only after 4 pm.
Banmian and curry puff@ Greenwich Mall Kopitiam
This Kopitiam at Seletar Hills is very quiet and less crowded than most foodcourts on any day. Even today (Sunday), the place is deserted. Only a few stalls are operating and most have closed shop due to poor business since opening 4 or 5 years ago.
We were there around 11:30am and had the Banmian as well as the Old Change Kee's curry puffs and prawn fritter. The food was good.
Next door is the Cold Storage Supermart. There is a Toast Box too.

It's Ponggul Nasi Lemak again
Breakfast was at Ya Kun Kaya. Toast Box was quite full and seating uncomfortable. Ya Kun Kaya's seats were more comfortable as compared to Toast Box although the kopi O was inferior. Had the kaya/butter toast set which cost $4.80. The other thing good about Ya Kun was that the staff would crack the soft boiled eggs for you whereas at Toast Box, you have to do it yourself. Sorry no photos from Ya Kun.
Lunch was nasi lemak at Jalan Besar. As usual, the food was excellent. No parking issue except that don't forget to use your parking coupon. In fact, this afternoon we witnessed 2 cars being issued tickets for not displaying parking coupons.

Retire and do not die clinging to your job
I am saddened to hear that another IFS (Inflight Supervisor) has been warded in the hospital for an illness (not sure what it is). This came after another who is still in coma due to a stroke. Just over the last month, 2 IFS were stricken with stroke. All of them are either approaching 60 years of age or just over.
The stresses of flying on an old crew is indeed killing. If you are a passenger doing a trip once or twice in a year is fine but as a cabin crew you would have to fly through different time zones, eating and sleeping at odd hours....that's a real punishment. Added to the stresses of flying, imagine an old man has to manage his 22 other junior colleagues (A380 carries 23 cabin crew)and demanding passengers plus answerable to the management which is not only demanding but punitive.
I buzzed off when I was 57 years of age. In fact, I asked for early retirement even before turning 50 but my request was declined.
I am now happily retired and spend my time the way I want to.

Dinner @ Punggol Nasi lemak, Jalan Besar
Yesterday, I was with a friend at Punggol Nasi Lemak, Jalan Besar. Today, I brought my wife to the same place. I took more pictures of the place and decided to post them over here.
Together we spent $16 on the nasi lemak with fried sambal long beans, fishes, ikan billis with peanuts, eggs, chicken wing and chicken thigh.
Though a bit expensive, the quality of the food was very good and worth the money we've spent. The place is liken to a McDonald's restaurant, clean and spacious. Another plus point is the place is not crowded at all even on a Sunday.
There are ample car park lots along the road as well as nearby. There is no free carparking on Sunday or public holidays. The coupon parking charges are 50 cents for 30 minutes or $1.00 for an hour.
