Last night while we were at Changi Village hawker center we ordered our favourite bbq chicken wings and satay from a stall named Soon Lee Heng. This was our second time there and the food was really good. The wings were a bit burnt but they suit our taste. The satay sauce was also sweet and tasty with peanut flavour. Even the ketupat was outstanding.

The stock market will crash this year, said the experts
This picture was taken at 11:20am this morning of the 30 top losers of shares in Singapore. I noticed the big 3 banks in Singapore was down between 1.8% and 2% (even with dividends). Then it dawn on me when I read this article about the collapse of the stock markets etc., I began to feel afraid for those friends of mine who are holding on to some stocks.
However, I do not hold any shares any more and will see whether I could pick up some cheap bargains when the catastrophe occurs.
Fish head curry dinner & Yakult
Although it was a Sunday (yesterday) and the last day of the March school holidays, we took our dinner at the crowded coffee shop near Jalan Kayu. We ordered our favourite fish head curry and even with the crowd, the food came within 15 minutes which was considered very fast. Service was good and the curry was excellent (although the 1/2 fish head was small).
The curry sauce came with lots of veggies like ladies fingers, brinjals, pineapple etc. We had 1 1/2 plate of rice each. The dessert was free of charge. Total bill = $23.
After dinner, I usually drink a bottle of Yakult which is good for digestion. Yakult promotes overall good health and has in the market for the last 70 years. Read more

Hot weather to persist in Singapore
Today's midday temperature in Singapore 33C. It will go as high as 34C before going down to about 26C in the night. We do not expect much rainfall in the next few days. The weather is not only hot and humid but dry as well.
Last night, I attended a classmate's mother wake. She passed away at the age of 96 after a long illness. A lot of our class/schoolmates were also at the wake which was held at Mt Vernon.
Last night, I attended a classmate's mother wake. She passed away at the age of 96 after a long illness. A lot of our class/schoolmates were also at the wake which was held at Mt Vernon.
After lunch, we proceeded to the supermarket and bought the Honduras Galia Melon and Cavendish Bananas. Total bill was $7 ($3.50 each item)
Some of the health benefits of galia melons include their ability to help weight loss diets, boost the immune system, prevent certain types of cancer, improve vision, improve the digestive process, protect heart health, and protect against diabetes.
Galia melons are probably not something you’ve come across too often in normal grocery stores or markets, but they are growing in popularity. Although melons are believed to have originated in India, galia melons are actually a hybrid cultivar of cantaloupe and honeydew melons that was produced in Israel.
Nutritional Value of Galia Melons
Galia melons are high in vitamin C, vitamin A, carotenoids, bioflavonoids, various minerals, like potassium, calcium, and iron, as well as significant levels of dietary fiber, including pectin. Also, it has no fat, no cholesterol, and is low in calories.
Health Benefits of Galia Melons
Heart Health:
Galia melons can help heart health in two ways. With its high levels of dietary fiber, it can help to reduce “bad” cholesterol in the body, which can protect against atherosclerosis. Also, due to the high potassium content, which acts as a vasodilator, your blood pressure can be reduced, lowering your chances of developing coronary heart disease, or suffering a stroke/heart attack.
Digestive Health:
Dietary fiber, particularly soluble fiber like pectin, which galia melons are high in, can help bulk up your stool and eliminate constipation and other gastrointestinal issues. Furthermore, soluble fiber makes you feel full, which reduces your likelihood to overeat, which can help people who are dieting or trying to watch their weight.
Immune System and Cancer Prevention:
Galia melons are packed with nutrients that can protect your body from illness, including high levels of vitamin C, which stimulates the immune system, vitamin A, which acts as an antioxidant, as well as carotenoids and bioflavonoids, which also act as antioxidants. These components eliminate or neutralize free radicals, which can cause cancer. Galia melons contain organic compounds that have been directly linked to reducing lung, oral, colon, and breast cancer.
Vision Health:
Vitamin A, which is found in a moderate amount in galia melons, has carotenoids that specifically protect the health of our eyes. Beta carotene can prevent macular degeneration, susceptibility of the lutea to UV-radiation, and cataracts.
Health benefits of eating bananas:
Weight Loss and bowel movement:
Adding a banana to your daily diet has an array of benefits in your body. Bananas help you reach your weight-loss goals, keep your bowels healthy, provide nutrients that regulate heart rhythm and have vitamin compounds for eye health.
Enjoying a banana each day aids in keeping you regular. One 6-inch banana has more than 2.5 grams of total fiber, about half of which are insoluble. As insoluble fiber travels through your digestive tract, it sweeps up waste and helps push it out. You'll have more regular bowel movements that are soft and easy to pass. Keep your bowels healthy by getting 14 grams of fiber in your diet for every 1,000 calories you consume, reports Colorado State University Extension. For example, if you tend to stick to an 1,800-calorie diet, you need about 25 grams of total fiber. You get nearly 10 percent of your daily fiber needs -- for this number of calories -- from one 6-inch banana.
Normal Heart Function:
Having a banana at breakfast every day adds a nutrient to your body to support normal heart function. Bananas are rich in a mineral electrolyte called potassium. When potassium enters your body, it absorbs directly into your bloodstream through intestinal walls. Potassium travels around to cells all over your body and dissolves in fluid inside of cells. It travels across cell membranes if needed to keep fluid balanced in and around cells. This process keeps electricity flowing throughout your system, which is required to make your heart beat. In cases of severe potassium deficiency, your heart rhythm may become irregular, which can be deadly. According to the Linus Pauling Institute, you need 4,700 milligrams of potassium on a daily basis. Bananas provide more than 360 milligrams per 6-inch piece of fruit.
Eye Health:
Adding a banana to your diet also helps keep your eyes healthy. Bananas have a small amount of vitamin A, a fat-soluble vitamin that is vital for protecting your eyes and normal vision. The term "vitamin A" refers to a series of compounds, including beta-carotene and alpha-carotene. These compounds preserve the membranes that surround your eyes and are a component of one of the proteins that brings light into your cornea. Adequate daily vitamin A intake also lessens your risk of night blindness and is essential for everyday vision. Women require 700 micrograms of daily vitamin A, and men need 900 micrograms, explains the Office of Dietary Supplements. One 6-inch banana has nearly 10 micrograms of vitamin A. Bananas also contain alpha-carotene and beta-carotene, which convert to vitamin A to further keep your eyes healthy.

It's a nice feeling when you make $$$
I am happy these few days because I made some money trading online. I sometimes do play contra which means that I do not have to cough any money when I buy shares until 4 days later. However, if I sell within 4 days I can offset the amount eg: the above picture shows that 50,000 Noble shares were bought by me at 0.415cts per share. Including all the brokerage fees, tax etc the amount is $20,821.05. The picture on your left shows that I sold all the 50,000 shares at 0.435. The amount after brokerage fee etc is $21,675.54. If you take the latter and minus the former, the amount is $854.49 (not shown here) which is my profit for this transaction.
I also made some on Golden Agri which I paid 0.41cts for each share and sold them at 0.42cts today (profit is about $720 based on 100,000 shares).
Again, today I am up on Noble which I bought at 0.415cts yesterday and sold all at 0.43cts today (based on 50,000 shares I am up $680).
So within these last few days I made $854+$720+$680 = $2,254.
Conversely, when the share prices are down you would have to pay the differences (losses). However, if you can afford it, you may pay up for the shares and keep them.
For tips on which shares to buy and make a profit you may want to read them here and here
The best thing is the profits derived from share trading are tax-free. Mind you even bloggers (not me cos I am a small timer) who are invited to taste food at restaurants, accept gifts like lipsticks, moisturisers etc are taxable according to the tax man.
BT: Trade with due diligence.
Hainanese Chicken Rice@ AMK Ave 3
Has been busy this morning with my business. On the way home, I tar pow 1/2 chicken and 2 pkts of rice from Ang Mo Kio 3. I have not been to this stall for a long time since I discovered a better one at Chong Pang market. Reason I visited this stall at AMK again is because it was convenient for me. Chong Pang would be too far off. Well, I settled for the 2nd best.

MP's alleged affair with ex stewardess
I can't help but blog about the case of PAP MP who had to resign from his position and from the PAP due to his alleged extra-marital affair with former leading stewardess Wendy Lim.
It is sad that a good MP like David had his career so called destroyed by a woman.
In Singapore, MPs are supposed to be "saints". This is not the first time an MP was asked to step down because of alleged extra-marital affair.
Just a few years back, we had another PAP MP with the same issue. Then there was an opposition ward MP who was asked to step down due to similar circumstances.
But in David's case it was an ex SIA leading stewardess and that's one of the reasons I blog about it.

We drove about 12 km away to eat our favourite laksa this afternoon. Delicious is the word to describe the taste of the laksa. It is being sold at a stall at block 928 Yishun Central, 1 minute walk from the bus interchange and 5 minutes walk from the Yishun MRT Station.
Cost is $3.30 for a big bowl (above) and $2.80 for a slightly smaller bowl.

Chicken wings & satay @ Changi Village
Since we were around the Changi Village area last night, we ordered the bbq chicken wings and satay from a hawker stall. My wife told me she heard about this stall before which is quite famous.
Both the wings and satay plus the sauce were very good. One piece of wing is $1.30 and satay is 60cts per stick.

Eating at home
Took my lunch at home. It's spaghetti with bacon and cabbage plus a banana which is high in fibre.
Watching the shares online, hoping to pick up some cheap bargains.
By midday the STI is up 30 points to 2860. Waiting for Noble to come down as well as Ezra & Vard Holdings.
I was tipped to buy Golden Agri which I bought at 0.41 cts in the late afternoon. Was told it will go up to 0.465 and 0.50 cts in the next few weeks.
Okonomiyaki is a kind of Japanese pancake. It is made up of flour, eggs, cheese, shredded cabbage and bacon. It comes with the black coloured sauce. Tastewise it is not bad but I don't think many S'poreans would be fond of it.

Kway Chup@ Tampines St 11 & a new sofa set
Whenever we are in the vicinity of Tampines, we will pay a visit to the Kway Chup stall at a coffee shop at Street 11. The elderly lady who sells the Kway Chup is the cook and owner. The chilli sauce is one of its kind.
The plate on your left is the pig trotter (shin part of pig's leg). We had the above for dinner last night.
We discarded our old sofa set and got this one a few days ago. We like this set because it is smaller than the usual ones with the backrest not too far inside.

We met for old times' sake
The ex chief steward (Alex, not his real name) who is dying of cancer and I met 2 days ago. One of his wishes was to meet up with me for old times' sake. At stage 4 of the prostate cancer, he was told by his doctors he had between 2 to 3 years to live. Currently he is undergoing chemotherapy. He is also taking Chinese herbs recommended by his friend.
We met at a coffee shop near his home. While he does not smoke, he still enjoys his beer. I bought him 2 bottles of Tiger Beer while I had a Milo drink.
Alex looked cheerful despite of his condition. He hasn't lost weight since I saw him sometime ago (before he had cancer then). He told me he had initially lost a lot of weight when he was first diagnosed with cancer. He had no doubt lost some of his hair. Nevertheless, Alex was in high spirit when we met.
We talked about old times. Alex used to work with me on the flights. He was a good worker as far as I know. However, to many crew, he was not enthusiastic about his job. He needed motivation and that was where I came in. With me, he would go that extra mile.
Alex told me a story how he found some cash and a good luck charm (piece of small cloth) in Japan many years ago. The cash came in the form of a few pieces of the Japanese 10,000 Yen (equivalent of S$120 per 10,000 Yen) and that cloth. His luck became real good and whatever he touched it turned to 'Gold" he told me. He gambled and won lots of money. He even believed that the lady in his life was a result of that lucky charm. He was relatively rich as a steward and even owned 2 properties.
However, one day he carelessly misplaced his lucky charm and that was the end of his fortune. He started to lose money in gambling and not long after, his lovely wife filed for a divorce. Now he has only a maximum of 3 years to live.
I was with Alex for about 3 hours and we also talked about other things too. Then came a lady whom Alex introduced to me as his partner. She was much younger than him and a nice lady too. She said she would usually spend time with Alex after leaving her work place in the evening. On that note, after getting her a drink, I left them.

How to beat cold & flu with this concoction
Many of us had suffered or are suffering from the stubborn flu, cough and cold from time to time. I am going to show you how to make this mixture of apple cider vinegar, oranges and rock sugar which if taken regularly will help you keep the flu, cough, cold and runny nose etc away.
What you need to buy:
- Oranges (7 to 8), the sweeter the better
- A bottle of apple cider vinegar (about 946 ml or 32 fl oz)
- Rock sugar (500gm)
Method:
- Peel the oranges and slice them
- Place the sliced oranges into a container
- Put the rock sugar (500gm) into the container
- Pour the whole bottle of apple cider into the container with the oranges & rock sugar
- Close the container and keep it in a dark place for a week until the sugar has been dissolved. If it is partially dissolved you may stir it until it is well mixed
- Use a juice blender and blend the mixture. You may drink it with or without the orange pulp.
- Mix 1 part of the mixture with about 5 parts of water (you may dilute it even more like 1 part to 7 parts of water etc)
- Drink it daily anytime of the day
- After 3 to 5 months or so, you would have build up your immunity against the dreaded flu and cold.
I used to have flu and cold accompanied with high fever at least once a year. After taking the above mixture I managed to keep the sickness away for 15 years until last year. I gave up taking the mixture because I had bad rashes. At first, I thought the rashes were due to the vinegar but I was wrong. During the couple of months which I refrained from taking the mixture, I had a bad flu accompanied by a high fever.
The good news is I am back drinking my apple cider mixture and keeping the flu and cold at bay.
