Raining & cold outside

Since it is raining, we decided to eat at home. We made our own pizza and also ate salad and have miso soup. Temperature is around 10c throughout the day....quite cold to me!

Tempura prawns & beef dinner

It's been a while since we cooked tempura. We also had the beef from a supermarket and cooked it for dinner. The salad (broccoli and lettuce) are from our little garden. It was a good and nutritious meal.

Another visit to "Granny Famous Briyani"

We visited "Granny Famous Briyani" again for lunch. This time we ordered curry fish (2 slices), a piece of chicken thigh, potato with long beans and briyani rice (+ an egg). The food is fabulous and according to granny her curry does not include coconut milk. The total bill is $16.50 which is reasonable.

Singapore desserts

These desserts (ice kachang, grass jelly with attap chee and chendol) are from the hawker center next to the Bedok interchange & MRT station. Each cost $2 and they are served by an elderly male hawker.

Thai chicken rice restaurant

We were at Nex Mall and decided to try the chicken rice at the new restaurant called " Go-Ang Pratunam Chicken Rice". The chilli for the chicken is not like the one that goes with the Hainanese chicken rice and so we were disappointed. A small bowl of chicken rice cost S$2 and the white rice $1.20. The steamed sea bass was $38++ and had the taste of mud as though it was a freshwater fish. The half portion chicken ($16) was dry and not as good as the Hainanese chicken. The soup ($6.50 a small bowl) was good. The spinach soup was so so and the fried egg (omelette) was acceptable. Best of all was the Thai chendol.

Granny Famous Briyani

This is one of the best nasi briyani (S$5.50c) in SG. It is called "Granny Famous Briyani". Besides briyani, there are other South Indian dishes like curry chicken, curry mutton, curry fish etc etc. The chefs are all Indian ladies. The place is opposite Hougang Block 953 along Yio Chu Kang Rd (on top of a slope). Below is the bus stop with bus service numbers where you alight. Operating hours of Granny is from about 11.30am till 3 pm daily.

Geylang Serai hawker center

We went to the above place for some Malay food. This stall " Sinar Pagi Nasi Padang" is one of the most famous Nasi Padang stalls in Singapore. The queue was quite long and it took about 15 minutes to get my food. I had the beef rendang and sambal goreng with rice. They poured too much assam pedas gravy into the rice and as a result I was a bit disappointed. The plate of tahu telor was good and tasty. The tahu was crispy and it came with peanut gravy and lots of veggies especially carrots. The total cost was $10.50c which I think was reasonable.
