Roasted meat rice and Sichuan vegetable soup

Today(Saturday)I went to Serangoon Ave 4, Blk 214 # 1-88,SG 550214 to try the famous Kim Heng roasted meat. It was 12:30pm and there was a long queue. It took me about 15 minutes before I had my roasted duck and roasted pork rice plus a small bowl of Sichuan and pork vegetable soup.
The duck was quite good and moist whereas the roasted pork was crispy and a bit fat. The soup was good and worth ordering. The roasted meat rice was $5.50 and the soup was $2.50.

Sunday meals, all hawker food

It was bachor mee for breakfast and all the above for dinner. The roasted meat ($7) was from blk 628 AMK hawker food center and so was the fried Hokkien mee ($4) and bubor cha cha ($2.50). The Hokkien mee may not look appetizing but it was really good. The bubor cha cha was fantastic. We were there about 4:30 pm and there was a long Q at the roasted meat stall. It was a worthwhile 20 minute wait.

Yummy dinner but lousy roasted meat lunch

The above was our dinner which was yummy and nutritious. We had roasted meat lunch at Sengkang Happy Hawker coffee shop. The meat was surprisingly not tasty as expected. We suspect the meat, including the roasted duck was not well roasted or cooked. We didn't finish our lunch and left with a bad taste in our mouth. Fortunately, we didn't suffer any food poisoning. My wife suggested that we do not post pictures of the roasted meat.

Late lunch at Chong Pang

We waited till late afternoon so the crowd would dwindle. Typically, on a Sunday especially in the morning, Chong Pang village would be so packed with people and vehicles that you could hardly move.
It was about 3pm when we had our roasted meat at one of the coffee shops. The place, was by now, only 30% full. After the heavy lunch we had our kopi.
Taste wise, the food was very good. The lunch for 2 costs $25...a little expensive but worth every cent we paid for.

Eng's wanton noodles & char siew, siew yok & duck meat

We drove 22 km (1 way) to Tanjong Katong Road for the Eng's wanton noodle which opened at 11 am. Before that we had our kopi O plus the roasted meat ($12) at the corner coffee shop about 20 meters from Eng's. The roasted meat was absolutely delicious. Be prepared to wait for at least 15 to 20 minutes because the Q is usually long.

Overjoyed to have found this stall again

For the last 3 years we were trying to locate this stall selling roasted meat, wanton noodles, porridge etc but to no avail. We used to patronised it for some years before 2012 when it was at a coffee shop opposite the Yishun MRT station. Due to the demolition of the coffee shop, this stall (Jing Ma Che)disappeared without a trace. It has no website and was not listed as one of the best roasted meat stall. Hence, the difficulty in locating them at their new premise. However, we were in Yishun yesterday and co-incidentally found this stall. You can imagine how happy we were. Today we went back there, ordered the food as shown in the photos above and enjoyed the food. However, the food selling in the former place tasted better. Think the chef must have gone back to HK.
In case if you are interested to dine over there the address is Block 101, Yishun Ave 5 (about 200 meters from the back of Yishun MRT station). Bon Appetit!
