Dinner@ the famous Kay Lee Roast Meat

The food was good especially the char-siew which was thick and succulent. A plate of rice with 2 meat is $6.50 and one meat with rice is $4.50. The food is pricey but here the quality of the food is definitely better.
I've two complaints and that's the place has quite a few flies trying to settle on the meat and the service staff is not attentive...e.g. there was no chilli sauce and had to request for it.
This outlet is at Tanjong Katong Road, a few doors away from Eng's Noodle House. Parking space is limited.
They have a few outlets and it was only last year original the owners sold the business to the Aztech Group for $4 million.

Hurray the rain is here and haze almost gone

The rain is here and by afternoon just before this picture was taken, the PSI is a comfortable 53.

A Singapore Airlines passenger shared a post on the Singapore Airline’s Facebook page praising the service and professionalism of a stewardess (Nov 11).

Passenger, Lau Wee Cheng travelling in Business class with his family on SQ2 from Hong Kong to San Francisco on Nov 10 posted on SIA's facebook complimenting a stewardess for her service and helpfulness towards the family.

In SIA's Facebook passenger Lau has this to say:

"Just want to say thank you to Miss Gwen (If I got her name right). Her service was exceptional and beyond her duty.

"She took care of my three children and even helped them with the food.

"My daughter was unwell throughout the flight. Miss Gwen made an effort to ensure the chicken was cut into smaller pieces, so that it was easier for my children to eat.

"This is simply a 'thank you' note to the SQ team because they deserve it.

"Thank you Singapore Airlines, which Singaporeans are proud of. It is a top notch brand and company and people like Gwen make the big difference."

Lau's post has since then garnered over 10,000 likes and many netizens have also expressed their feedback on Singapore Airlines' good service.

Singapore Airlines has also replied in response to a comment in the same post about their service level across the various classes:

"It doesn't matter which travelling class you're on. Our crew will still deliver their best services to all our passengers.

"We look forward to welcoming your family and you onboard our flights again soon."

Respite from the haze, lunch@ Eng's Noodles

The PSI averages 68 (moderate) for the last 24 hours. It is a temporary respite because the N.E. wind is not blowing that strong to drive the haze away.
Had a light shower in the N.E. region and the temperature will range from 28 to 32 today.

Eng's is located along Tanjong Katong Road in the East Coast area. It's wanton noodles is one of the best in Singapore. A small bowl like the ones above cost $4.50 whereas a bigger one is $5.50.There are also wanton, dumpling etc soup. The chilly is super hot so be careful not to take too much.

More hawker stalls at Chong Pang Market

Chuan Kee Braised Duck

This stall at Chong Pang Market opens at 10:30am. It closes every Monday and last Sunday of each month. Chuan Kee sells tasty and relatively cheap duck rice. This is a $5 set and the smaller ones are $4 and $3. There is always a long queue especially during meal hours. I was there when it opened this morning and the queue was short. The soup has a strong likeable herbal flavour.
Highly recommended.

Jack Fruit from Chong Pang Market

Jack fruit is hard to come by these days. Only a few stalls at Chong Pang Market are selling it. It is supposed to reduce blood pressure and cure some other illnesses. All those in the above cost $4 which is worth the money. Lastly, it is sweet and has a pleasant taste.

This man benefited from my action

He staggered into the cafe with the help of the walking stick. He must be about 80 years old. He wanted to have a plate of fried noodles and a cup of coffee but he did not have money to pay for them.
My wife and I were seated a few rows away observing how that old man was treated by the cafe staff. His order was rejected. He was disappointed and looked dejected. He must be hungry, I told my wife.
I approached the staff selling the food and paid for the old man's breakfast. It was only $2.50. That fellow did not even thank me but I did not really care nor expect any gratitude. The point I want to make was that my action had an impact on the staff and from that morning onwards, that old fellow need not have to pay for his breakfast, courtesy of the cafe.
