Late lunch@ Tanjong Katong Road

It's a wet morning with the rain falling intermittently. We didn't go out for breakfast but instead ate at home.
Later in the afternoon, hopefully after the rain has stopped, we will venture out to the East Coast for our lunch/dinner.

Late lunch at Tanjong Katong (East Coast)

We left for our lunch at about 3pm. At this time, the eateries will be quite empty and we could also get a free car park along the road.
We started with Eng's Noodles ($4.50 a small bowl) which was what we have missed for a while now. After Eng's we proceeded to Kay Lee's roasted meat & rice ($6.50c a plate). I had the roasted duck and roasted pork rice and my wife had the char siew and roasted pork rice. The food at Eng's and Kay Lee's were fabulous. We enjoyed ourselves. The places were deserted.
Next, we crossed the road and tried the ice-cream. My wife had the combo and I, the Mao Shang durian ice-cream. The place was quiet expect for a few young girls. The durian ice-cream was quite expensive. The bill came up to $13 for 2.

Salad, papaya,Kay Lee's roasted meat and haze

Yesterday was my fasting day. I fasted for 24 hours and ate chicken porridge and fruits for dinner (1 meal only). I did not snap any photos of the dinner.
This morning I ate a plate of cabbage and onion salad. I also had 1/4 of a papaya (photos below).

For dinner, we ate Kay Lee roasted meat at its newly open outlet at Bedok North St 1, Block 217. It was a 30 minute drive from our place. The meat was a big disappointment as compared to the one we ate at Tanjong Katong Road recently.
The duck was boney, the char siew was dry and the siew yok was salty.
We ordered the 3 types of meat for 2 people and 2 plates of white rice. The meal cost $25.10.
We would NOT recommend this place for anyone wishing to eat roasted meat.

The haze is still around. The PSI reading as at 5pm was 72 which is on the high end of the moderate range. Once the PSI enters the 100 mark, it means it is in the unhealthy range.

Dinner@ the famous Kay Lee Roast Meat

The food was good especially the char-siew which was thick and succulent. A plate of rice with 2 meat is $6.50 and one meat with rice is $4.50. The food is pricey but here the quality of the food is definitely better.
I've two complaints and that's the place has quite a few flies trying to settle on the meat and the service staff is not attentive...e.g. there was no chilli sauce and had to request for it.
This outlet is at Tanjong Katong Road, a few doors away from Eng's Noodle House. Parking space is limited.
They have a few outlets and it was only last year original the owners sold the business to the Aztech Group for $4 million.
