Another blog by Boh Tong the ex- SIA cabin crew

We went to Chong Pang and did some marketing over there this morning. Being a Sunday, the place was very busy and crowded. One consolation was that car parking is free of charge. Depending on where one park his vehicle. If it is nearer to the market center, free car parking is available from 1pm till 7pm otherwise it is the usual 7am till 7pm.
The above is my wife's version of Spaghetti Carbonara. It came with garlic bread and a small bowl of lettuce. Her standard of cooking is definitely better than mine.
These days, we seldom eat out. We feel that home cooked food is healthier and tastier.

Mentai spaghetti and Japanese dinner

Dinner was typically Japanese style. Rice, saba fish, diakon, miso soup, pickled sliced ginger and salted veggie. I would not put on weight when I've this type of dinner. In fact, I would most likely lose a few hundred grams if the lunch is somewhat similar. Instead, lunch was mentai (fish roe) spaghetti.

Due to the security breach at STC, many staff including some "grounded" crew has to queue to let the security staff checked their passes before entering. The new procedure which involves long queue has caused some inconvenience to the staff. On the average, each staff has to come to STC  30 minutes earlier than usual.

This incident may not be related to the above case but it was also about "security lapse" at STC a few years ago. The story went like this:

J, a trainee steward had permission from SIA to invite his parents for his graduation at the STC Auditorium. The parents were given passes to enter the premise. After the graduation was over, J's parents who were ex crew went to the cabin crew office (next block) to pay a visit to their ex colleagues in the office. The case was reported to the security by a staff and J's parents were let off with a stern warning. As for J, he was given a warning letter from the office which could have resulted in having his probationary period extended.

I had a few issues with my desktop. I could not upload videos or photos from my phone camera. However, it is fine now.
The video above shows the anniversary celebration of a Chinese temple in front of my flat. The festivities will go on for the whole month of October.
The above picture was my lunch. It is the hamburger minus the bun (wrapped with sliced cheese). Not bad for a home cooked dish.

This was my dinner, typically Japanese with beef, pickled brinjal, turnip (daicon) and pickled sliced ginger plus a small bowl of rice.

Quite a relaxing day for me. Weather was hot and humid until about 4pm when it poured. After the rain, the evening was less humid and more comfortable.
Ate a lot of fruits in the morning after a cup of home brewed coffee. Lunch was light. It was a bowl of Japanese rice, grilled salmon and some Japanese pickles.
Did not eat until about 7:30 pm, had ban mian and a cup of mocha + cheese cakes at Seletar Kopi and Cedele respectively.

Chong Pang Village Market

We were at the Chong Pang Market and decided to take a video of the place (part only) for our viewers.
The wet market selling fish, veggies, meat etc were closing because it was late morning and so we did not video it.
The shops selling clothing, bags, fruits and the hawker stalls were opened for business. Hope you will enjoy the video.

Today's meals

Wednesday, September 28, 2016

Breakfast was fruits and lunch was Japanese. Dinner was a bowl of home prepared champon.
This afternoon we visited a friend's studio flat. She bought the flat from the HDB at $120,000.
This studio is about 500 sq ft in size and comes with a 30 year lease. We thought it was expensive even though it was a government subsidized property.

Breakfast and LG washer

After our pig's trotter and kway chup breakfast at Tampines St 11, we proceeded to Courts to buy the LG washer. We had one which lasted for more than 12 years. The one (Kuche) that replaced the 12 year old LG was unserviceable only after 1 year and 11 months. It came with a 1 year warranty whereas the Korean made LG came with a 2 year warranty. Below is the one (8kg) which we've ordered and will be delivered in 2 days time. Total cost including delivery is about $470.

Washing machine broke down again

Almost 10 days ago, I blogged about our washing machine (brand is Kuche) giving us headache. We got it repaired by a technician from the servicing agent. A piece of coin, I was told was the culprit. After that the washer worked for just one wash and it broke down again the very next day.
I tried contacting the servicing agent again but to no avail. After more than a week of hand washing our clothes, finally we managed to get the technician to come and have a look at it.
He told us  a part of the washer needs to be replaced. The cost is $200. This is ridiculous as it was not even 2 years old. We decided not to get it repaired. Tomorrow we will be looking for either a Japanese or Korean brand washing machine. Goodbye to German technology!

Going to be a wet Sunday. Rain started pouring around 7:30 am. I like the rain as it will cool down a what could be a hot and humid day. The rain also reminds me of my childhood. I love playing in the rain with my friends. My mother disapproved of it. She was worried that I may be struck by lightning. Therefore, somehow even till today I feel happy when it pours.
