It is exciting time for us as the watermelon plants are bearing fruits (above picture). It will take another 45 days before they grow bigger (about 4 to 5 kg) and ready to be eaten. Right now, we need to give lots of tender loving care to the plant. It should spread out on the ground and we have to water the plant at least twice a week. The plant also need plenty of sunlight, about 8 to 10 hours a day. Hopefully in a month or two, I will post the pictures of the ready to eat watermelons.

Growing watermelons

Onion is good for health
Now that we have harvested the onions, we are going to keep for a while. We will be consuming them as regularly as we can and the balance will be kept is an airy cool place. Onions can be kept for as long as 6 months and still fit for consumption.
Freshly harvested onions are juicy and tender. It is a precious commodity in India. When the price spike recently and beyond the means of the ordinary Indians, people demonstrated in the streets and called on the Indian government to bring down the price.
Onions are without a doubt good for health. Eating onions regularly can boost heart and digestive health. Onions also helps fight cancer and contain lots of antioxidants. There are many more health benefits which you may in the internet.

Mandarin orange plant
Bought this mandarin orange plant for about S$13 and planted it in the garden. According to experts, the tree should bear oranges in 2 to 4 years from now. Let's see how it goes.
Hopefully we will have the fruits just like in the picture below.
