Sheng Siong supermart overcharged by mistake?

 

We bought 2 bundles of spinach (1 red & 1 round) from Sheng Siong supermarket this morning but was charged for 3 bundles (2 red & 1 round). We didn't realised it until we got home when we, out of curiosity, checked the receipt. Could this overcharging a mistake on the part of the cashier? Could this "mistake" be made frequently without the customers knowing it? We seldom check the receipt against what we bought as we trust the supermarket. We could have disputed the matter but the supermaket is a distance away and it's not worth our time and effort to travel all the way to rectify the issue. I blog the matter so as to bring awareness to all.

Breakfast and grocery shopping at Sheng Shiong

After eating our fruits at home, we went to the newly opened coffeeshop and Sheng Shiong Supermarket at Block 473, Fernvale St.,Sengkang. We ordered the wanton mee ($3) out of curiosity due to the long queue and was pleasantly surprised to find it pleasing to our palate.
After the wanton mee, we ordered the kaya butter toast/eggs/kopi set. The price was $2.50 and not $1.80 as advertised. When questioned, the kopi lady told me the offer price of $1.80 was applicable from 6 am till 10:30 am and I was there at 11:10 am.
Next, we proceeded to Sheng Shiong supermarket which was next door and bought amongst other things,sea cucumber ($9.90 for 430 gm on special offer), dried shiitake mushrooms ($6.95 for 200 gm) and chicken wing sticks ($1.95 for 250 gm) for our weekend dish which is known as the "Sea Cucumber Stew".

Eating sea cucumber makes you look younger

It is claimed that sea cucumber is good for health. This sea creature is found at the seabed. It is supposed to prevent certain types of cancer, help in healing of wounds, slow down the aging process etc etc.
I found some dried sea cucumber being sold in the Chinese medicinal shops but they are very very expensive. 100 grams of dried sea cucumber cost from $45 to $220! The non dried ones in the wet/supermarkets cost much lesser...about $9 for a packet of 400 grams ( from Sheng Shiong).
This is our first time cooking the sea cucumber (picture above). We mixed it with fish maw, pork, shiitake etc. We had it for lunch yesterday and it turned out to be tasty and nutritious (hopefully).
