Jetty fishing in Japan during autumn

Fishing at the jetty is quite fun especially if you can catch some fishes on a lovely autumn day. The average afternoon temperature was 20c. The above photos were taken in the evening before we left for home.

Fishing in Japan

In 1980, I caught a garoupa off the Bedok coast (top picture)

Few weeks ago, I caught another garoupa of almost the same size as the one in 1980. This time it was off the coast of Shimonoseki, Southern Japan in the year 2021 (41 years later).
Fishing has always been my hobby but since the 1980s, I have not done any fishing as the water off Singapore do not have many fishes anymore. The sea is polluted and over fishing is also the reason for not having many fishes. But oh boy I am sure glad that I can fish in Japan. Besides, we are lucky to have neighbors who are also fishing enthusiasts. We (my wife & I) have been on fishing trips with our neighbors on 3 occasions.

He caught a fish but he .............

During my walk I came across a Japanese guy who caught this fish. Was rather surprise that he threw the fish back into the river. I thought he was going to use his knife to clean the fish and have it as sashimi. 😂

Fishing for your dinner

There is a restaurant in Fukuoka whereby you may fish for your dinner. The chefs will cook the fish you catch in the way you like it.
The restaurant is shaped like a boat with water by the side. It is as though you are out in a lake or pond. Fishing rods and baits are supplied. All you have to do is try to catch the fishes.
For 3 people the bill came up to about S$100. It was inexpensive as the food was excellent, service outstanding and fun.
