Seminar/end of school holiday etc

This was my breakfast at AMK before starting the cabin crew wannabe seminar. Had 9+1 participants. All told me they are going for the 8 July interview at Pan Pacific Hotel in Singapore. I wish them luck.
After the seminar at 1pm, we proceeded to a coffee shop nearby and spent another 2 hours together.
I hope I had instilled confidence in them.
I had visitors this evening and they were my former neighbours who had moved out a few years ago to Punggol. They brought their lovely pet dog with them.
It rained in the evening just like yesterday (afternoon) and it cooled down the temperature a bit as well as the humidity.
Today is the last day of the month long school holiday. Tomorrow is also the start of the working day after a long weekend due to Hari Raya Puasa.

Prawn mee day

This prawn mee at Kovan Station hawker center perpetually has a long queue of customers. I was curios and joined the queue this morning. It took 20 minutes before I got my number 4 pork ribs prawn mee ($5). I was a bit disappointed because I thought it must have been fantastically yummy judging by the long queue of customers. Won't say it wasn't nice but not worth the waiting/queuing time.

Not satisfied with the prawn mee at Kovan, we went to Serangoon Central for another prawn mee in the evening. This one is only $3.50 and a little better than the one at Kovan. Besides, there was no queue and the hawker served us instead of the "self-service" type at Kovan.

Hawker food and Texas Chicken for today

Went to Kovan food center and had curry rice ($4), soon kueh ($3 for 3 pcs) and coconut ($2.80).
The Hainanese curry rice queue was long but the hawkers were fast and competent. The soon kueh
(turnip+mushroom etc) was very good and tasty.
Dinner was 2 piece combo set Texas Chicken ($8.40). Also had an ice cream cone for $1. The mashed potato and chicken were delicious and the restaurant was almost empty except for a few other diners.

Meat free spicy meals

Today's meals are simple and tasty. Top is the lontong from a Malay stall in Hougang and second is the sayor lodeh which my wife cooked for dinner. These 2 meals are meat free but contain lots of vegetables and spices.

Dinner at IndoChine@ Gardens by The Bay

Was at SuperTree IndoChine Gardens by The Bay this evening for dinner with friends. Didn't snap many photos as I was busy chatting with my friends. It's a beautiful place overlooking the harbour and the night lights. Will take more photos on the next visit. Needless to say the dinner was yummy. I particularly love the roast lamb and the starter (in the picture).

Bedok Reservoir Road Block 717 murder: Elderly couple found dead in flat

SINGAPORE -A79-year-old man and a 78-year-old woman were found motionless in a second-floor flat at Bedok Reservoir Road and were pronounced dead around 3.57pm by paramedics.

Police were called to Block 717 on Wednesday (June 21) at around 3.39pm.

The Straits Times understands that the Singaporean Chinese couple, Mr Chia Ngim Fong and his wife Madam Chin Sek Fah, were found in two different places in the five-room executive flat.

Police investigators were seen taking pictures in the unit's bedroom and bathroom.

Other family members also live in the unit but were not at home at the time. They were seen at the unit around 7.30pm.

The police have not arrested any suspects.

A 28-year-old undergraduate, who wanted to be known only as Kenneth, said that he heard a shout lasting a few seconds at about 3pm. "I didn't think too much of it. But I believe it came from the lower floors." He lives on the 6th floor.

Neighbours told ST that the elderly couple were friendly.

A 68-year-old retiree, who also lives on the 6th floor and did not want to be named, said that the couple, who often go out together, are loving.

She described the woman as fair skinned with a slim build, while the man is skinny with white hair.

"They have been living here for more than 30 years. The woman is very happy-go-lucky and chatty while the man is a bit more quiet," she said.

Mr Said Nasir, a 63-year-old retiree who lives on the fourth floor, said that he is shocked to hear the news.

"Sometimes, I would meet them downstairs as they are going to deliver meals to their children. We would just wave and say hi," he said.

Police have classified the case as murder and investigations are ongoing.

Durian@ $67 wasn't worth the money

Had the durian from Hougang. 3 boxes cost $10 and they were quite good. We had eaten a durian that cost $67 around the same area. It was good but not outstanding as we had expected considering the high price we paid for.

Wanton mee and Korean bi bim bap

Had the wanton mee ($3.30) at a Bukit Merah coffee shop for breakfast. As for lunch, we had bi bim bap which was cooked by my wife. Both tasted super good.

Few facts about bi bim bap:

Bi bim bap is a Korean dish. The word literally means "mixed rice". It is served as a bowl of warm white rice topped with namul (sautéed and seasoned vegetables) and gochujang (chili pepper paste), soy sauce, or doenjang (a fermented soybean paste). A raw or fried egg and sliced meat (usually beef) are common additions. The hot dish is stirred together thoroughly just before eating.
In South Korea, Jeonju, Jinju, and Tongyeong are especially famous for their versions of bibimbap. In 2011, it was listed at number 40 on the World's 50 most delicious foods readers' poll compiled by CNN Travel.

7 arrested for theft at NTUC Finest, Seletar Mall

The people who stole from the NTUC shopping mall must be out of their mind. There are cameras everywhere and the culprits will be caught. I don't know the nationalities of the shoplifters but I was told most were not Singaporeans.
