On the subject of shoplifting by aircrew, a Japanese stewardess was fined $7,000 yesterday by a Singapore court for stealing goods worth $2,356 in August.
A stewardess from Singapore was arrested in Tokyo recently for a similar offence but was let off with a warning from a Japanese judge after being detained for 4 days.
A few years ago, an Indian stewardess from New Delhi was arrested for shop theft at "Mustafa", a local departmental/supermarket store. She was put on a $5,000 bail and allowed to continue flying. She attended the court hearing and her medical examination at IMH during her days-off and that's the reason her Singapore employer did not know about her case. She was eventually fined $2,000 for the offence. The press did not know about the case otherwise there will be more publicity than the Japanese stewardess's case.
She continue working for a year and left on her own accord.
As for the Singapore stewardess's Tokyo case there was also no press report nor publicity. Presently, she is still flying with the airline.
