Happened to pass by a McDonald's outlet this afternoon. The popular Samurai Burger is back on the menu. Despite having rashes and abstinence from this type of food for the last 3 days, I succumbed to the temptation of the delicious Samurai Burger.
After finishing eating, an elderly McDonald's cleaner helped me cleared my table. After a while, we chatted. I was surprised to find out that this gentleman works 6 days a week of between 7 and 8 hours a day and is paid only S$1,000 a month.
My heart goes out to him for working so hard in a crowded restaurant and yet being paid such a low salary.
The world is unfair, I thought to myself. I have a schoolmate who has so much spare cash that he bought his second car, a Maserati as his "toy" (a cool $1 million). Another one lives in a $30 million house.
I left McDonald's feeling somewhat uneasy about the whole incidence.
