Not satisfied with yesterday's char kway teow from Tiong Bahru, we decided to pay it a visit again. Surprisingly, being a Sunday the place wasn't even 50% full. By the time we arrived, some of the stalls were shut.
The first item we ordered was the Fried Hokkien Mee ($3) followed by the Chwee Kuah ($2) and Char Siew Duck Rice ($5). Like yesterday's CKT, the taste was nothing spectacular. Only the kopi O (90c)was good.
The place was cleaner and well kept, better than most like Chong Pang, Tampines and other hawker centers in Singapore.
Please note that there is no free car parking on Sunday and public holidays.

Unfortunately, Tiong Bahry hawker centre is a far cry from before it was demolished in 2004 and rebuilt into its present form.
When it reopened in 2006, there was no "peng-kang" stall, but it still had a couple of decent charsiew & suckling pig stalls. But over the last decade, some of the better stalls closed or moved away.
Something else was also happening in the Singapore night food scene in open air markets. What used to be lively bustling scene went into decline and it is very notable in Tiong Bahru.
Allow me to recommend you a few of the stalls which I do patronise:
1. Hot Place Western Food, #02-54
2. KongWai Cantonese Cuisine (Tze-Char), #02-52
3. Tiong Bahru Lee Hong Kee Cantonese Roasted, #02-60
4. Original Tiong Bahru Golden Pig & Roasted, #02-67, #02-68
5. Liang Liang Garden (traditional desserts, e.g., ice-kacang) #02-75
6. Tian Tian Dessert House, #02-15
7. Soon Li Coffee Stall (for sugar cane lemon), #02-45
8. Ho Kee Hot & Cold Drink - Beer (for sugar cane lemon), #02-39
Snowy Beagle, thanks for your comment and recommendation :-)
