Trip cancelled and retirement in Malacca

We were planning a short trip to the Malaysian state of Malacca but has since cancelled it due to a possible terrorist attack as reported in the press.
The terrorist attack in Nice, France a few days ago had also made us think twice before travelling overseas. We feel safer at home although there is no certainty that an attack would not happen here.
Our intended itinerary includes the famous Jonker Street, A'Famosa Fort, Christ Church and many others. We planned to stay at one of nice hotels in Jonker Street which happen to be the intended target of the terrorists.
To be honest, I must admit that Malacca is one of the few places that I would want to spend my retirement.
With a population of about 800,000 (S'pore's population is 5.4 million) and an area twice the size of Singapore, Malacca is a good place to retire. The cost of living is half that of Singapore's. Examples are: rental for a 3 bedroom apartment in the city area is about S$300 (RM 1,100) per month and a brand new 1600cc Japanese car cost between S$30,000 and $40,000. In Singapore the same type of car cost about S$110,000.
The pace of life is much slower than here. There are fewer traffic lights and practically no traffic jam. Life will be less stressful in Malacca as compared to Singapore.
One could easily obtain a 10 year retirement visa to live in Malaysia under the "Malaysia My 2nd Home" scheme.
Below is a chart showing the distribution of expenses in Malacca.

BT,I spent 10 days in Malacca with my boys. My boys love it. My wife was taking a 10 days course. So we accompany her. Nice place for retirement. Fried kway teow with egg was RM2.50 which was $1.20 at that time. It is quite boring for tourists after a few days. But if living there long term, it is very relaxing.

Over there can do some fishing, gardening, own a nice house and drive a Lexus for 35k only.
Maybe life span may increase due to the slow pace of life.

Jacky Melbourne is a good place except that it is difficult to get a retirement. It is also quite expensive to live.

Hmm, I'm planning to live in suburban area and not the city. I like the vast nature leh. Still its cheaper than Singapore. A car there is only about $20k to $30k. A house in about $300k to $400k in suburban area. Population about 5 millions but land is about 14 times bigger than Singapore.

Immigration rules are strict. To immigrate one must have lots of money or required skills. Since u r young u can plan now. I am old and oz govt wont give me a visa to live there. Admittedly it is a fabulous plc for retirement.

Yep you can easily qualify for MM2H and once the high speed rail is ready,it'll be easier..more options to travel.
