Duck Master, once is enough

Today, we had the above roasted duck from Duck Master for lunch. It was quite cheap and is the latest craze. However, I found the duck not up to my expectation. The skin was crispy, meat quite tender but salty. More overall, the duck was small and do not have much meat.
Duck Master opened its fifth outlet at Seletar Mall a few weeks ago.

This ba-chor-mee was from 473 Sengkang coffee shop. It was quite good but expensive as it cost $3.80 when the average is $3.30. Don't think I will ever order it again. It did not have mushrooms at all although compensated by fish/meat balls.

I had Hainanese chicken rice at Simei MRT station coffee shop. It was quite good. After eating the chicken rice, I ordered the above mushroom minced noodles (bar-cho-mee). I can't be wrong because there was a fairly long queue for the noodles. It turned that I was right because the bar-cho-mee was quite exceptional. For $3.50 there was an abundant of liver, meat balls, mushrooms etc.

In the evening, we went to Seletar Mall and bought Ah Mah's cake (original $8). Yesterday, we had the one with cheese ($11) and it was sapid. It is worthwhile trying as it is not very sweet. We kept in the fridge and will have it for our breakfast.

LiHO cheese bubble tea and Ah Mah's cake

There is some excitement in Seletar Mall as some new stalls have replaced the old and unpopular ones.
The one above  (4 pics) selling bubble tea with cheese flavour by LiHO the famous home grown brand has opened another outlet in Seletar Mall. I ordered the one with cheese and it tasted really good. I paid the promotion price of $2.50 (U.P is $3.00). This outlet will give the nearby Koi, also another popular bubble tea stall a run for the money.
The last 2 bottom pictures are that of Ah Mah cake. The queue is usually long and I got the one with cheese which is $11 (we have eaten about a quarter of it before taking the photo). The original one w/o cheese is $8. Overall, the cake was fantastic!

Chai Kee Prawn Noodle

I was recommended to eat prawn noodles from a stall called Chai Kee at Kovan hawker center this afternoon. At first, I wanted to try (I've eaten at Ah Hui before) Ah Hui's prawn noodles which is also at the same hawker center but my friends discouraged me from doing so. Instead they recommended Chai Kee's and it turned out to be better. The above is $5 (small bowl cost $4) and it came with a nice prawn flavoured soup. The address is #01-66, Hougang Kovan Food Center. The operating hours is from 7am till 2pm.

Good-bye pasar malam!

The pasar malam or street market's last day at Sengkang was Saturday. Was there for 12 days. Business was poor, I was told and also judging by the small crowd everyday and night.
I spent about $100 on food, the camera stand as well as the selfie stick. The telescopic camera stand was sold to me a bargain price of $20 (usual price is $29) and the selfie stick at $5.
In the above photo, I was testing out the selfie stick before buying it. In the background was the vendor.

I bought another 5 more (eaten one already) tapai ubi or fermented tapioca at the pasar malam today.
I had 2 yesterday and they were so good.

I also had a packet of mee goreng at the same night market. Don't be deceived by the presentation of the mee goreng or fried noodles because it was really fantastic. My wife ate it too and were impressed with the taste.

Tapai or fermented tapioca

This is Tapai or fermented tapioca. It is rarely found in Singapore. Tapai juice taste like sweet wine or a bit like the Japanese rice sake. You may find it the 1950s and 60s but not these days. I love tapai and had not tasted one since I was a kid. I found it at a pasar malam and gladly bought 2 for $2.
You may also eat the yummy fermented tapioca.

Seafood spaghetti is one of my favourite pasta especially if it is prepared at home. In addition, I had the broccoli salad with mayonnaise dressing.

Bar-cho-mee @ 205D, Compassvale Lane

This bar cho mee stall is at 205D (coffee shop), Compassvale Lane, Sengkang. It opens from 4 pm till late and closes on Sunday. The Q is usually long but it is worth the wait. The sauce and the minced meat are out of this world. It is better than my favourite at 446, Jalan Kayu. Besides it is cheaper than @ 446 by 20 cents ($3.30). Some days, the hawkers close the stall at their whims and fancies. I supposed the husband and wife team have made enough money that do not intend to work hard anymore.

McDonald's Nasi Lemak Burger

The nasi lemak burger by McDonald's has made a comeback. I didn't try it earlier but since its return, I have eaten it no less than 3 times. I must say this is the best burger I've eaten in Singapore. Since it is very popular, I understand that Burger King is also following McDonald's footstep by adding the nasi lemak burger in its menu.
I usually have the burger without the additions i.e. no fries or drinks etc. The bugger alone cost $6 which is worth it.
