The radish plants are doing very well. We have plucked some of the leaves and used them for salad a few times. In 3 months time, the root will appear and time for harvesting.

Bluefin Tuna (maguro) cutting show

ii

We were grocery shopping when we heard the announcement that there was going to be a maguro cutting exhibition. It was a worthwhile 15 minute wait. There was a small crowd and we were at the front to watch the show which lasted for about 20 minutes with the expert explaining the significance of the  bluefin tuna. He told the crowd that the fish was about 65 kg and was from Nagasaki.
After dissecting the fish, we were treated to sample pieces of the maguro sashimi. It was delectable and fresh.

Growing radish/daikon during fall

Since the weather is getting cooler, we are able to grow radish or daikon in Japanese. It may take a month or two before we are able to harvest the daikon.
Will post the daikon we grow once it is harvested.

Cakes from Japan

These cakes are fabulous. Got  them from a supermarket in Japan. They come in a 500 gram pack (frozen) and cost a mere $3.50.
